July/August 2014 Review

Our First competitive game of the season and we come out 2-0 winners and knock Clyde out of the cup! Next up in the cup.. Dumbarton at Home


Raith (league cup)

Grehan [A] Sally [G]

Another advancement in the cup with a late ET goal. Next up in the cup.. Ross County


East Fife

A goalless 0 - 0 game, East fife should have been awarded a penalty in the 75th minute but the referee didn't give it. Ben Watson was also sent packing on the 91st minute. The game may have been boring, but it was far from dull.


Dumbarton (challenge cup)

Another 0 - 0 game which took us to penalties. We kept our nerve and managed to win on penalties after O'brien put one wide and we managed to secure a tie away to Rangers.


Stirling

Gold [G]
Gold [A] McDaid [G]

we played old rivals Stirling and got our first win of the season


Ross County (league cup)
Maguire [pen]

A decent performance from the lads but we were ultimately outclassed by premiership opposition. On a bad note, Gold will be out for several months after picking up an injury.

Airdrie (Fierce Rivals)

Crawford [A] Stewart [G]

We managed to come out the victors in our first rivalry of the season, Stewart pounced on a miss-kick from the Airdrie defender to give the game it's only goal and us a vital 3 points.


Livingston

A boring 0 -0 which saw us receive 2 injuries to key players and Grehan miss an absolute sitter.



Rangers (Challenge Cup)

Flood [A] Grehan [G]

A game which we were expected to lose, A nice goal for Grehan to boost his confidence in front of 44,000 fans. This game saw us receive over ?350,000.


Ayr

Could've won this game if we weren't so indecisive infront of goal. First league defeat of the season.



Arbroath

Maguire [A] McDaid [G]
Herbery [A] Stewart [G]

Abit of a grudge match which saw Ryan Donnelly (THE TRAITOR!) return, We welcomed him with a 2-0 hammering against bottom of the league Arbroath.

I decided to bring in veteran Young to give our midfield abit of experience, Young spent 10+ years at Aberdeen and played for all of it in the top league.

East Fife went down to 10 men on the 56th minute but we couldn't capitalize, These are the game we need to be winning!


Brechin

Oh My! An absolute hammering. My worst defeat in FM to date!

We managed to bounce back on the back of that terrible result. McGuigan is bringing the best out of the big man, Grehan.

A great spectacle, Livi equalised on the 80th minute but that man McGuigan managed to score on the 82nd to give us a vital 3 points.


Stirling

We were dominated this game, the scoreline flatters us. We had 3 shots and got 3 goals from it along with a 35 yard screamer from Slane!


Airdrie (Fierce Rivals)

We managed to overcome rivals Airdrie for the 2nd time this season.


Ayr

A dissapointing result but we've had a fantastic month so I didn't criticise my lads too much

A fine display from McGuigan sees us coast to the next round which sees us receive another possible bank boost with an away tie to Dundee UTD.

Raith had a ton of chances to score but we were solid defensively and got a lucky 3 points.

A rare goal for Wilson late in the game but it was merely a consolation goal.

Started his career at Birmingham before moving to St.Mirren where he spent his time last season on loan at Championship Dumbarton. St. Mirren released him and I snapped him up for free, Hopefully he will provide competition and challenge for a first team spot!
