Aston Villa winger Marc Albrighton pays tribute to the work done by caretaker boss Kevin MacDonald in his role as reserve team manager.

Good on him to give credit where it is due. He's got his head screwed on right, he's got the skill, the pace, the determination to go very very far. Thank goodness he's got a go in the first team, I'm very happy he has.

Yeah, he is great. Deserved his spot in the first team.

one thing ive noticed is that ive not seen a lot of love lost for o'neill after his departure, whereas lots of players have talked about macdonald

He's been a Villan for about 13 years. He's about as much a fixture at Villa as the furniture, and he's coached a new generation of youngsters. They adore him, and rightly so.

not saying he shouldnt be getting it. but i just wonder about the relationship between the players and o'neill. you reckon macdonald will work with the first team as coach? houiller seems to want him to

No no I wasn't insinuating that! :P I think you're right, though. I mean Albrighton is a special case as he was never played under O'Neill, he was in the reserves with KMac. I think he will be with the first team as a coach, which isn't necessarily a good thing considering his success with the youngsters over the past years.

i like this lad alot, hope he can keep developing and becomes a excellent player for country.

The lad has impressed me since he came in, looked a bit burned out against Newcastle but McDonald said himself that was his fault for overplaying him.

scored a good goal for the under 21's the other night too.

Yh Macdonald is better for villa then O'neil was, shame about Houllier getting the job, Big Kev had done a good job.

I guess he'll play more, now that Milner went to City.

I dont see how people can see McDonald is better for Villa, O Neill got them out of the deep **** that O Leary left them in, and he built a good English side, almost got the champions league a few times.

he looks like a very good player, could push capello to make a decision on him

I'm grateful to McDonalds too.
