I have decided to manage the Algerian national team. I'm hoping to qualify for the World Cup and get a few good results. I feel that this team has great potential and with the right management can do something special.

My career with Algeria could not have gone any worse with a 3-0 loss to cape verde. Then we turned things around with wins against guinea and guinea-bissau to set up a final game with cape verde for top spot. In between we played games against cyprus, morocco and albania winning one, drawing one and losing the other. Then the big day came and with a goal by rafik djebbour we managed a tie and moved into top spot.

Unfortunately we were drawn with Cameroon and after a scoreless draw in the first leg we couldn't pull through and we lost the aggregate 2-0. Unfortunately I couldn't lead Algeria to a second consecutive world cup berth and I was sacked after just a year at the helm.

Islam Slimani was my player of the year as he scored 5 goals in 8 appearances and had and average performance rating of 7.1
