View attachment 317412

West Bromwich Albion have today released a statement to announce the dismissal of manager Alan Irvine.

The statement, read out by Chairman Jeremy Pearce was as follows:

J.Pearce: "We have called this press conference today to release a statement to accounce that acting manager Alan Irvine has been dismissed from his position following the club's poor league position. With the club having lost earlier today to Manchester United we now find ourselves sitting in 17th place, only a point above the drop zone. With that being said we believe now is the right time for the club to take a different approach and have decided to change things up in a bid to bring success. We would like to thank Alan for his professionalism, and his hard work during his brief time at the club."

Irvine took the stand to give his thoughts on the sacking.

A.Irvine: "It is with great sadness that I have been released by West Bromwich Albion as manager of the club, I've thoroughly enjoyed my time here although it has been difficult, and with the club on the borders of relegation I can understand why the club wish to make this decision. I wish them all the best."

...

According to Sky Sports sources, Ian Holloway, Brian McDermott and Malky Mackay are believe to be in the front-running for the Managerial vacancy at the Hawthorns.

Rounding off March

We were unlucky against Manchester United in this match, we played well but struggled to find a way through. United used their Championship winning mentality to scrape out a win despite not playing to the best of their ability.

Holloway Arrives at the Hawthorns

West Bromwich Albion have today announced that Former-Blackpool manager Ian Holloway has been hired as the new Club Manager at the Hawthorns and will lead the club for the foreseeable future.

Ian+Holloway+Ian+Holloway+Press+Conference+be9scuLuunRl.jpg

Holloway revealed his delight at the hiring to a room full of eager reporters.

...

Reporter: "Mr. Holloway, how does it feel to be back in the Premier League?"

I.Holloway: "Oh it feels fantastic, as you all know I managed Blackpool in this league a few years ago and while it's incredibly frustrating at times, it's a magical league. There's no end of talent on show not only at the big clubs but here at West Brom as well, I'm excited."

Reporter: "Did you give any thought before resigning from Millwall to accept the offer?"

I.Holloway: "It was a tough decision, I've had a great time in East London with Millwall but it's hard to turn down the chance to manage in this league. No disrespect to Millwall but I don't think we were going to win promotion anytime soon, I think I've made the right decision coming here."

Reporter: "The club is currently sitting in 16th position, are you confident of keeping the club in the premier league?"

I.Holloway: "Absolutely, I was present to watch the 3-1 win over Aston Villa at the weekend and there were some very promising signs with the football being played by the club. Berahino, Sessegnon and Varela look like fantastic players and I'll be doing my best to keep them at the club. But yeah I believe we can stay up."

Reporter: "Thank you Ian."

I.Holloway: "Thank you very much."

As this month was split into a couple of updates here's a general look at the results of March, could have been better, could have been worse.

League Table

Having only gained 4 paints from the month we've now slipped back down to 9th place, and having spent most of the season here it's looking likely that we'll stay here!

We began the month of April with a 3-0 win over Aston Villa at St. James' Park, a brilliant performance in which we amassed 60% of the possession while tripling Aston Villa's shots on goal. Cisse's brace bagged the win with the Senagalese forward proving to be on very good form.

Cisse's goals against Villa have helped to raise his tally for the season to 12 goals in 15 starts.

European Update

Manger-less Dutch side AFC Ajax have won the Eredivisie for the 34th time after beating FC Twente 2-0 at the Amsterdam ArenA.

Although they were heavily expected to claim the title, Ajax fans will be proud that their squad has been able to fend off the competition of teams such as PSV, Feyenoord and Twente.

Hi

You may or may not know that I am a massive Newcastle fan and they are my 2nd love (marginally albeit) behind my daughter but that has no influence whatsoever of what I am about to say....

This is, by far and away, one of the best laid out stories that has been written. My original Bilbao story a few years ago had about 200,000 views but this is far better. You seem to have the right balance for the reader that likes everything in detail and for the reader that skims stories. Brilliant pictures uploaded and everything.

I can give you no higher accolade than this - I had given up on FM15 and stories until I seen this and I am now re-inspired to do a story with 100% effort behind it.

Now go on and win us a trophy or 20!!!!

Thank you very much!

I'm a Liverpool fan but have always enjoyed watching Newcastle over the years, somewhat of a 2nd team to me haha!

I've had a couple of attempts at half-hearted stories since the release of FM15 but I decided to go all out in a bid to really get stuck into a save, and it's proved to be extremely enjoyable so far!

I'm glad you like the concept of the pictures/simple descriptions along with the more detailed summary underneath, I'm a big fan when it comes to 'attention to detail'.

I hope you start a new story, I'll be sure to follow it all the way and hope I can rake in some trophies here at Newcastle. :)

Krul Returns to Training

View attachment 317368

Newcastle goalkeeper Tim Krul today returned to training after recovering from a broken finger, the Dutchman has been out of action for around 6 weeks and returns to training with a chance of making the team-sheet for the game against Sunderland this coming Sunday.

The Second Ty
ne-Wear Derby!

SAFC-v-NUFC.jpg

After our victory at home to Aston Villa we now made the 12 mile trek to the Stadium of Light where we would take on AFC Sunderland in the 2nd Tyne-Wear derby of the season and having won the first one 2-1 we were looking to do the double over our fierce rivals.

The Stadium of Light is absolutely packed on this fine Sunday afternoon, not a single empty seat in sight which is no surprise, football rivalries here in the North East are some of the most fierce around around the world. Pride is on the line.

Capacity: 49,000 (Full Capacity)

With 30 minutes to go until the start of the match, here's a look at the team-sheets.

N.Quinn: "As much as I'd like to say Sunderland will get the win today I can't see it happening, they've been very poor this season and are currently sitting in a lot of danger. The only positive from a Sunderland point of view is that Tim Krul is still absent from the Newcastle squad, I'm going for a Newcastle win..2-0."

The ball is on the spot..The referee glances at his watch...

13:30 - Phweeep!

A huge roar is heard around the stadium as Sunderland get this game started. We're off!

...
21st Minute: Adam Johnson picks the ball up from van Aanholt before lifting his head and running at the Newcastle defence, he turns and plays the ball back to Gómez. The ball is now switched to the right hand side with Giaccherini in all kinds of space, he pulls the ball back to Altidore!...

Oh what a save by Rob Elliot! The English keeper quickly gets down to his side to deny the American's powerful header!

107897d19ea069db2fc12bdf721ad271.png

Great save by the Newcastle Keeper!

...

45th minute: Phweeep! The referee calls time on a drab half, the only bit of action was Altidore's header which was brilliantly saved by Rob Elliott.

Half Time Analysis

cq5dam.thumbnail.490.338.margin.png

Presenter: "Well, it's been a tense affair so far, wouldn't you agree Ian?"

I.Wright: "Oh definitely, I've been quite disappointed by Newcastle so far, they've become known as a team with a lot of pace down the wings but we haven't really seen that today. They've been trying to play through a very compact midfield where Sunderland have 4 or 5 bodies, they need to change their approach if they want to win this game."

...

The players return to the pitch for the 2nd half...

Phweep! Play resumes here at the Stadium of Light!...

...

64th minute: Rob Elliot resumes play with a pass to Janmaat, Newcastle always opting to play out from defence as opposed to punting it forward. Janmaat continue his run and plays it into de Jong in the middle, de Jong flicks the ball through to Ayoze Perez out wide who gets the beating of van Aanholt, the young Spaniard cuts inside onto his left foot and drives it!..It deflects off John O'shea but luckily for Sunderland it's straight into the side-netting, not a bad effort from the youngster.

3495460106.jpg

...

80th minute: Tioté with the ball now, he knocks it forwards to Gouffran who finds a bit of space, the Frenchman plays it off to his compatriot Cabella who knocks it back to Tioté, Tioté drills it into Sarabia on the edge of the box who flicks it through to Ayozeeeeee!...GOAL!

458219472-ayoze-perez-of-newcastle-celebrates-with-gettyimages.jpg

Great finish from the young Spaniard as he latches onto Sarabia's through-ball before slotting the ball under the oncoming Pantilimon, lovely football by Newcastle..It's 1-0 and the Newcastle fans are buzzing!

...

87th minute: Time running out here for Sunderland but Adam Johnson stands over a free-kick by the Newcastle byline..Could this be there last chance?

Johnson whips it in with a bit of curve, Altidore beats Taylor to the near-post flick on and..Verginiii!..GOAL!

JS43706748.jpg

Sunderland have equalised! Vergini finds himself in all kinds of space and latches onto Altidore's near post flick to guide the ball into the half-empty net, poor marking from Newcastle!

..

90+3 minutes: Phweeep! The referee calls time on the match, a lot of late drama as Santiago Vergini's late goal rescues a point for Sunderland at the death! Newcastle will be disappointed as they dominated this game.

Newcastle-United-v-Everton.jpg

Newcastle have missed out on a victory today and with a tough fixture schedule inbound have the Magpies blown their chance of finishing in the European places?

View attachment 317375

Yep, it's going to be tough..But St. James' Park has been a difficult place to visit for the big teams so far.

View attachment 317372View attachment 317377

(Krul in-fact played this game (I didn't realise) but for the purpose of the story I've edited the sheet (Badly) to show Elliott in goal, forgive my blunder!)

I can't deny that I'm disappointed..We were the better team and deserved to win the game, but having only scored one goal after 80 minutes we left ourselves susceptible to this sort of result, I'm disgusted with the marking on the set-piece, but we'll look to bounce back against Liverpool next week.

Unlucky with just the draw but one thing you got wrong mate, your "team sheet" at the start had Rob Elliott in goal yet the screenshot you took has Krul in goal?

You'd think so..Shows the lack of sleep I had last night! For the purpose of the story I just (badly) edited the team-sheet screenshot to show Elliott in goal. I'm sure it won't matter too much but thank you for noticing my blunder!

Just to add I was watching Superbad at the time of the game, I already have ADHD as it is so distraction is easy!

(I write up the match reports after the actual game, I just make notes in my book regarding the chances to write up about. I didn't pay attention to the GK spot as I thought Krul was still out injured, I let my assistant pick the Starting XI then i just make a few changes so I just assumed he'd picked Elliott)

Rookie mistake!

Happens to the best of us, doesn't detract from what has been a great read so far!

The Rest of April

Following the Tyne-Wear derby we will now be looking to get a victory against Liverpool as we look to finish the season on a high note.

Sissoko Picks-Up Injury

View attachment 317352

A frustrating injury as Moussa is one of our key players here at Newcastle, it is likely that this injury will rule him out for most of May. He may return for the last game or two.

newcastle-moussa-sissoko-west-ham-mark-noble.jpg

Sissoko has found it tough for Newcastle this season only picking up 4 assists along the way, not a single goal.

epl_logo.jpg

View attachment 317351View attachment 317350

A decent performance here as we managed a draw against high-flying Liverpool although the fact that we failed to beat them pretty much all but guarantees that we will miss out on European Football next season, but we avoided defeat so I'm happy.

Janmaat Picks Up Knock

View attachment 317349

Darryl Janmaat also looks set to miss out on the remainder of the season after picking up an injury during training, he's been one of our star performers this year and will surely be missed.

Daryl+Janmaat+Eow1nMW1wVEm.jpg

Janmaat has had a fantastic debut season in England with an average rating of 7.25, a very consistent performer for Newcastle United.

Results

View attachment 317348

April was a good month, we managed to stay unbeaten but are ultimately disappointed at not being able to pick up victories over Sunderland and Liverpool.

We will now look to end the season on a strong note in the month of May.

The Final Month (2014/15 Season)
epl_logo.jpg

View attachment 317346View attachment 317345

The first game of the month saw us take a bit of a battering away at Stamford Bridge, we'd been on a good run coming into the game but we all know just how strong Chelsea's squad is. We tried to get a foot-hold in the game but were unable to keep our opposition at bay, European Football is almost impossible to get now.

View attachment 317344View attachment 317343

The team bounced back with a fantastic result against Arsenal, St. James' Park has been a fortress against the big teams this year and we very quickly found ourselves 2-0 up through Sarabia and Ayoze, Ferreyra added a third towards the end of what had proved to be a magical first half.

The second half we sat back and invited pressure, this ultimately cost us dearly and we were lucky to get the three points as Arsenal came back to 3-2 late on. But I'm still delighted with the result!

View attachment 317342View attachment 317341

Not much to say about this match, it was a poor game in which the only action was the disgraceful tackles that were flying in with Cresswell seeing red in the 2nd half. We dominated the possession and created no end of chances but once again failed to find the net, the reason we aren't going to be in Europe next year.

Manchester United Claim 21st Title

View attachment 317335

Manchester United have won the 2014/15 Premier League title following a 6-0 home win over Crystal Palace, Louis Van Gaal will no doubt be in the spotlight as he guides Manchester United to a double in his first season in English Football.

The final game of the season ended in a 3-1 win against Burnley in-front of the Newcastle faithful, a great performance by the team as we wanted to finish the season with our pride intact, it's been a good season and I'm very happy.

Squad

Here's a look at the squad's statistics from the season, feel free to have a look at the players who had the most goals, assists..Highest average rating etc.

View attachment 317326

As you can see Papiss Cisse and Facundo Ferreyra tied the scoring on 13 goals, not really enough goals to guide us to European Football and I'll certainly be looking to bring in a goalscorer.
(Touchwood we get good funds)

Ayoze had a great season, chipping in with 10 goals from the right wing, I can't wait to see him develop!

Anita, Janmaat and Sarabia also proved to be very consistent players with the three of them all average a rating of 7+, we just need to strengthen in a couple of areas, but overall a good team season.

epl_logo.jpg

View attachment 317338

May was a good month, other than the battering at the hands of Chelsea we stood strong and finished the season with only one loss in the final two months of the season. If we bolster our defence and find a prolific striker I don't see why we can't battle for Europe next season.

View attachment 317337

We finished the season where we were predicted, 8th. I'm impressed with how things have gone, I've familiarised my club and had a full year in which to analyse the squad and I'm confident that in future years we can aim and finish higher in the table.

As you can see Sunderland finished at the foot of the table, something our fans will no doubt take with great laughter and mockery as we see our fierce rivals slide down to the 2nd tier of English Football.

But that means the Tyne-Wear derbies are gone, and that's a little bit upsetting.

Not much to say on Leicester, they were expected to go down and did, an unlucky relegation as they dug deep at the end but ultimately came up short.

View attachment 317336

Swansea's relegation is the surprising one, but this gives me a great opportunity to bring in Ivorian striker Wilfried Bony, a prolific scorer who can certainly fit the mould here at Newcastle.

Manager Paul Clement released this statement earlier.

P.Clement:
"I'm delighted to announce that Ayoze Perez will be staying here for the forseeable future having signed a new long term deal with us, he's had a fantastic year and fully deserved a new deal. And with a youngster playing so well we had to find a way to fend off the clubs that may be sniffing around and the best way to accomplish that was to tie Ayoze down to a new contract."

Mike Ashley has today notified me that I will have a budget of £12,000,000 to strengthen the Newcastle squad at my disposal with £200,000 extra on the wage budget. I'll have to be wise in the window in order to strengthen the squad without breaking the bank but only a couple of positions need strengthening so I'm hopeful on this front.
