Am I able to play a new game with the FM 2012 default patch?

In previous Football Manager titles you could choose with which patch you wanted to start a new game, but this option isn't appearing for me in 2012, ain't I able to play in the default patch with 12.1.1. installed?
If not, is there anyway to downgrade FM 2012?
