An Indian quest - club and country.

Indian Arrows are un-relegatable because " The club was formed with the main goal of nurturing young Indian football talents in the hope of qualifying for the 2018 World Cup in Russia"

Season Over?
I sign for another season and we get our first youth intake. And in a busy month we play our final 3 league games and our confederations cup future is decided.

As you can see in the league they all went our way, but would it be enough?
In the confederation cup we find our feet and finish more chances than before

Player of the month goes again to Okpara a solid player who leads from the back

So we managed to win it all in the end, mainly because others slipped up but we'll take it.

Andwe made it through to the next round so our season continues. Awaiting the draw for round 2

Honours
We win manager of the season and Okpara wins defensive player of the season

No National news this month but I have organised a friendly with Northern Ireland to test ourselves against non-Asian opposition.

Season Review
So it turned out to be a successful season domestically but only two points separated the top 3 sides. This shows we have a lot of work to do to dominate Indian football. A better showing in the cup is also required.

Top Scorers
Robin Singh – 24
Edeh Chidi – 21
Sanju Pradhan – 6

(we need more goals from midfield by the looks of it)

MostAppearances
Gurpreet Singh Sandu (GK) – 42
Edeh Chidi (ST) – 41
Uga Okpara (DC) – 41

(Not bad going out of a possible 43 games)

Most Assists
Robert Lalthlamuana – 14
Edeh Chidi – 14
Sanju Pradhan – 10

(Robert's assists came from left back while Sanju's came from the right wing which shows we have good balance.)

Top3 Players
Uga Okpara
Robin Singh
Edeh Chidi
(of those who played at least 10 games)

As you can see the same players appear over and over and the team will be built around them for next season

Confederation cup update (or cupdate if you will)
Unfortunately we were given a tough draw against Al-Ettifaq of Saudi Arabia, we put up a good fight but it wasn't quite enough, losing on away goals after a 0-0 draw in the Desert.

National Team
This season we we won a couple of games but need a better showing to rise up the rankings. (This is also important to eventually give Indian domestic sides chance of Asian Champions League Qualification.)
We now face a tough double header against Qatar away and Northern Ireland at home but will have fresher players than mid season games

Any requests for screen shots I would be happy to oblige, here is the final EPL table for those interested.

Inspired me to start my own! Won the Federations Cup and got the league tied up in March, couldnt have started any better. Finances are a bit of a worry though

I am not the best at FM to be honest but winning both straight away is always impressive, The Confederations Cup is a different kettle of fish tho due to grayed out teams and the unpredictability that comes with it. Finances do seem to be a worry but a glimmer of hope is that I have hit attendances of over 89,000 against Al-Ettifaq and made a profit that month. I think success will bring those sorts of crowds more often and the revenue with it (Stadium capacity of 120,000 if I remember correctly)

Yeah the stadium has a great capacity the thing that worries me is that the ticket prices are apparently £0 haha! I'm releasing a load of players to try and sort the wage bill out but unfortunately I think this years FM's extremely difficult to keep small clubs affloat/make profit.

Yeah it's an issue, I have had made profits on other saves without much effort so i am hoping this one comes back to me in that respect

International Round Up
We lose our shape too often against Qatar and they get their 9th win in a row! Northern Ireland prove a step too far but we showed glimpses of promise (despite the scoreline).
We now have to win some friendlies against easier opponents to get up the rankings (and keep me in a job?)

Qatar 3-1 India

We looked far off the pace in this one, Qatar played around us and we were lucky to get a goal towards towards the end. Very annoyed with how we played, if not the result.

India 0-3 Northern Ireland
View attachment 314737
Believe it or not I think we played better in this game, more chances but the forwards misfired. Northern Ireland's goals came from 2 individual efforts and a goalkeeping mistake but we didn't exactly limit their chances. Not too disappointed with this one, could have been even more respectable if we could finish.

The Squad
The best player by a mile in terms of talent but not putting the performances in.

A couple of promising youngsters, hard to tell their true ability right now but I feel they have potential to break into the squad. The report gives Bose just 1 ½ stars but he has better composure and finishing than some of the leagues top scorers already.

Minor Gripe
Results have been pretty accurate in terms of favourites winning and scores reflecting chances, but the number of mistakes my 'keepers are making at international level is unbelievable. Hasn't 'cost' us yet as we are poor side anyway but if it continues it may do.

Itsy Bitsy Club News
We release the deadwood and try for a couple of youngsters, more updates to come.

The long long pre-season
We are made joint favourites with Dempo who finished second last year after a poor start.

As you can see a lot of players did not agree new deals. We got a couple back though which is handy because we were left with no goalkeepers in the senior squad. So to remedy that we brought back Gurpreet who I was annoyed didn't renew anyway and Paul as his backup. Quao adds more solidity to the defence and fills our fourth and final foreign player spot. Back up comes in the form Naik and Tsewang, two experienced players who can between them play every where on the pitch. D'souza is an exciting 17 y/o midfield prospect who in truth could see an extended run in the team pretty quickly. Chettri is our only non free acquisition paying a little bit in compensation to relegated Sikkim. He has good technical skills to play attacking midfield but is far from the finished article. A couple of players have been brought up from the youth squad to replenish the squad after we let a staggering 27 players leave on a free or loan (not all of them with my blessing but they didn't want to stay any longer.)

The future
So here we see the most promising youths from our squad. Two of them I have mentioned before, the third is Sujit Bose, a player that came through our own youth system and can in my opinion become a half decent poacher.

Pre-season fixtures
View attachment 314901
Pre-season in India is mostly cup games, a chance to win some silverware if nothing else. The first friendly against United SC was a chance to test the back up players, with the first teamers on international duty excluding the four Africans, two of whom picked up slight knocks. The second was purely for fitness. In the Durand cup we batter a few teams before a close final.

India News

We defy the odds and a late barrage to draw with Malaysia.

next update will see the federation cup and more national team travels.

Just won the Concaf Cup + Durand to add to the silverware. Does anyone know if this means i'll be entered into the Asian Champo league?!
