Brendan Rodgers Steps Down As Liverpool Manager

images

Liverpool have today announced that Rodgers has resigned from the club with immediate effect. The reason behind his resignation is not yet clear. The club released a statement, wishing Rodgers "all the best with his future pursuits" and thanked him for his work during the past year at the club. Liverpool have also announced they have appointed youth coach Jordan Rollinson as care-taker manager until a replacement is found.

Several high profile names have been linked with the job, including Frank Rijkaard and Marceloa Bielsa. It is now the boards job to search through the applications, and pick the best man suited for the job.

Liverpool Give Rollinson Permanent Job

Liverpool have today announced they have appointed care-taker manager Jordan Rollinson as manager. The decision comes as a shock to the fans, as Rollinson has no previous management experience. John W. Henry released a statment saying he was "very impressed" by young Rollinson's attitude, and felt he was "capable of big things at the club"

Despite some skepticism among fans, there is a general feeling of acceptance, and they are willing to give the young manager a chance. If he is to have any chance of success at Liverpool, he will surely need the fans behind him and his team.

Rollinson Faces The Media

The first task as new Liverpool manager for Rollinson was a press conference at the clubs stadium. The young man looked full of confidence as he answered the questions being thrown at him. Several journalist commented on whether he was ready for the job, which he replied "When we start playing, you will see if im ready or not." He was also asked how his team has reacted to his appointment. He said he had had a meeting with them already, and they were happy to have him as their manager. He said he was expecting to complete for honors this season, and that other teams should "watch this space." A bold statement from the rookie manager.

Suarez Rocks Liverpool

Luis Suarez has officially handed in a transfer request. There has been much speculation about the controversial Uruguayans future, and it now looks like his future is away from the Anfield club. This is likely to give new manager Rollinson a massive headache, as Suarez was one of the best performers last season.

Several clubs have been hovering around Suarez over the summer, with Real Madrid and Bayern Munich both very interested. It is thought that Liverpool are holding out for around £40 Million for the striker, but may have to settle for less.

Plenty of Movement In and Out Of Liverpool

Oh Herro!

There has been plenty of movement at Liverpool with several players coming and going. The biggest story is the £40 Million move of Luis Suarez to Bayern Munich. This has obviously left a huge gap up top for Liverpool, but they are hoping the £16.25 Million of Christian Benteke will plug that gap. They have also announced the signing of Morrocan Winger Mbark Boussoufa for £22 Million. The tricky player is known for his excellent dribbling ability, and will be an exciting player for the club. Liverpool have also signed Welsh midfielder Aaron Ramsey for £13.25 Million from Arsenal.

Good Pre-season for Liverpool

Its was a good pre-season for Liverpool, remaining unbeaten in all their games. Perhaps their best result was the 4-3 victory over a full strength Real Madrid side. Players like Ronaldo and Benzema took the the Anfield pitch and put on a great display, but Liverpool were equal, if not better, and came away with a victory. They did end with 2 disappointing 0-0 draws though, and should have done better against weaker opposition.

Liverpool have an openning game away against Norwich, before their first home game against newly promoted Cardiff.

Statistically perfect start for Liverpool

pics-image-2-749709708-2618236.jpg

100% wins, 5 goals and 0 conceeded. While the stats show that Liverpool have had a flawless start, the displays on pitch are less than good. They only managed to scrape 1-0 wins over Norwich, Cardiff and Hull in the Premiership, and 2-0 over Bristol City in the Capital One Cup 2nd Round. With games coming up against Tottenham and rivals Manchester United, they will need to improve the performances.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Norwich 0 - 1 Liverpoool
Agger

Agger got the only goal of the first game of the season for Liverpool. He headed home from an Mbark Boussoufa corner.

Liverpool 1 - 0 Cardiff
Agger

An exact carbon copy of the Norwich game. Boussoufa's corner was headed home by Agger.

Bristol City 0 - 2 Liverpool (CoC)
Gerrard, Boussoufa

Liverpool put on a better performance against lower side Bristol City, but perhaps should have got more goals. Captain Steven Gerrard got his tally for the season underway, and new Moroccan Signing Boussoufa got his first goal for the club.

Hull 0 - 1 Liverpool
Alberto

Another boring game played out at the KC Stadium. Luis Alberto provided a bit of magic on his debut for the club, and got himself on the score sheet

Talking Tactics

Rollinson appear to be adopting a very unusual 4-3-3 formation, with extremely attack minded wing backs and wingers. He is also employing an Anchor man, who is extremely defensive, rarely setting foot over the half way line. He often acts as a 3rd centre back at times. The top 3 are also very fluid, often changing round positions during the match, giving the opposition something to think about at all times.

Thanks for following everyone. What do you guys think of my transfers? Anyone you would have got instead?

Liverpool Crash Out Of Capital One Cup

steven-gerrard_2187499b.jpg

Liverpool's form dipped this month, winning only 1 of their 4 games. Perhaps most frustratingly for manager Rollinson was the 1-0 loss in extra time against Southampton in the Capital One Cup. Liverpool were favorites to win the match, but were unable to come out with a victory. They also came up against Rivals Manchester United, but were unable to find victory.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Liverpool 1 - 0 Tottenham
Ramsey

Aaron Ramsey got his first goal for Liverpool after an excellent display against Liverpool. Spurs gave Liverpool a run for their money, but Ramsey's 80th minute goal proved to be the winner in the end.

Liverpool 0 - 3 Manchester United
Van Persie (x2), Cleverly

A poor performance from Liverpool gave bitter rival Man United an easy victory at Anfield. Van Persie put the visitors up by two goals, before Cleverly finished the scoring in the 90th minute.

Liverpool 0 - 1 Southampton (CoC)
Lambert

Despite Liverpool putting in a good performance, they were unable to progress to the next round of the cup. Young Jack Robinson put in an excellent performance in the left wingback role, as well as Coates at centre back. The game went all the way to extra time, with Lambert's 92nd minute goal proving decisive.

Sunderland 2 - 2 Liverpool
Sessegnon (x2) - Alberto, Larsson (o.g)

A very exciting game played out at the Stadium of Light ended in a two all draw. Liverpool can perhaps be disappointed after being two nil up. Boussoufa will be very disappointed too, after his missed the chance from the spot to put Liverpool 3-1 up from the penalty spot.

Winless Month For Liverpool

Daniel+Agger-Liverpool+cropped

Things are starting to get tough for Rookie manager Rollinson after a winless month. They were unable to find a win in 3 games. They did manage to draw 2, and one was a good result against Chelsea. They suffered a defeat against Stoke, and also drew with West Brom.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Liverpool 0 - 1 Stoke
Walters

Another poor game from Liverpool in which the slumpt to another defeat. This time at the hands of Stoke. Walters got the goal for the Potters.

Chelsea 0 - 0 Liverpool

A good result for Liverpool against a strong Chelsea side. Once again Liverpool's lack of edge up front showed as they were unable to get past a young Jamal Blackman in goal

Liverpool 1 - 1 West Brom
Boussoufa - Brunt

Another disappointing draw for Liverpool leaves them in 7th place. Boussoufa scored a fantastic freekick in the first minute which went on to be goal of the month. Brunt then equalized 5 minutes later

As you readers probably can tell, I am really struggling up front. Anyone got any ideas how I could improve my goalscoring? Worried about Benteke too. Its mid-november and he hasnt even come close to scoring yet...

Excellent story and signings! Benteke is class I usually use him as a complete forward on support duty due to his strength and he bags me loads of goals and assists alot aswell !
