16 is the amount of players you should really be looking to have. Maximum is 25.

16 allows you to bid more on your players and still get the full 5 backups.

It ruins the earlier rounds imo. But at the end those people always suffer. Those who overbidded on my game have terrible teams.

People, stop complaining about overbidding. It happens in every auction game, and to be fair, it makes the game a bit more interesting.

It's not really complaining. Some of the bids, at times admittedly, are ridiculous. It makes it a lot of more difficult to capture players at decent prices and make a small gain, instead of playing out £50million + on an average player.

Just bids of around £25million should be alright. Since the budget starts out at £500million.
