Russia 2018 Yearly Summary:

Good year for me, despite the lack of regens coming through (only 1 in the squad thus far). 2 losses to Brazil and somehow Iran because a player got sent off in the first half! My converts have been great with Welliton and Joaozinho being key to some of my wins.

For some reason the yearly best 11 hasn't been announced so can't include that in here. My world ranking has stayed the same since the World Cup at 3rd and I've won all my Euro 2020 qualifiers so far and not conceded a goal yet!

Upcoming fixtures for 2019 all look winnable but need to arrange some friendlies for November.

2015 Czech Republic

Poor friendlies results (which I left to the assistant manager) but easily qualified for Euro 2016. I'll return to taking charge of friendlies games because it has affected our world ranking.

Euro 2016 - Czech Republic

After opening with a 1-0 win over Belguim followed by a 3-0 hammering of Ireland we sealed our qualification with one game to go. The reserves could only manage a 1-1 draw with Slovenia.

Somehow we managed to draw Slovenia AGAIN in the 2nd. The first team fared much better winning 5-0.

Next up: the Italians. Unfortunately we were outclassed 4-2 and Italy eventuall went on to win the tournament.

Some good news was our striker Vaclav Kadlec finished as top goalscorer and won player of the tournament. Hopefully he is the next to seal a big money move to one of Europe's bigger nations which can only help the national team.

Poland 2016

I played into March 2017 before I realised I had forgotten to update on my progress after Euro 2016 but I've only played one competitive match in 2017 so far so the world rankings have not been affected much. In fact my ranking has leveled out again around the 34th mark after peaking due to our win against Spain.

2016 was a mixed year, in my last update you saw we had a good Euro 2016 making it past the group stage. We then had four World Cup Quals in a row taking 7 points from a possible 12.

Wins against Slovakia and Latvia were pleasing but was disappointed to loose to Serbia and draw with Montenegro. Dropping these points may cost me qualification.

Following these matches two decent friendly performances against Moldova and Greece ended the year with a win and a draw respectively.

As you can see, already completed a bad result in a friendly against Albania but a good win in the Qualifiers. The rest of the competitive fixtures I feel I can win so here's hoping we top our qualifying group.
 
2016 Czech Republic

We finished the year top of our WC qualifying campaign but slipped down to 6th in the world. Notable results were the 5-2 thrashing of France and 1-1 away to Spain as well as a 5-0 win in Turkey. However a 5-1 thrashing by England and surprise 3-2 defeat to Iceland need addressing.

... and our average squad age in down to 25. Really happy with some of the youth players coming through. Most of them are from either Sparta Prague or Viktoria Plzen so if either job becomes available I may apply for it and further boost the regens coming through
 
World Cup 2018 Czech Republic

One word... DISASTER!! We were in terrific form coming into the tournament but struggled badly in a group we should have got out of easily.

We opened up with a 4-2 win over Paraguay

Then the wheels came off!! We lost 2-1 to Ivory Coast and Norway with Norway's 93rd winner knocking us out. We really should have won both games and will be lucky to not get sacked!!

Italy eventually won it. We also slipped to 10th in the rankings which will plummet further no doubt.

Poland 2017

Won 5 of my remaining World Cup Qualifying matches with only 1 loss to Slovakia. My loss to Serbia in the previous year ended up being the difference between automatic qualification and a play-off spot as we finished 2nd in our group:

Drew Greece in the qualifying play-off. Drew 2-2 at home, Lewandowski got injured and was out of the away game which I lost 1-0 so did not qualify for the World Cup.

Managed to get one of the Brazilians to play for Poland. Hopefully he can prove good back up for Lewandowski:
