Any way to improve a players natural fitness??

I have a player who has very good mental and technical stats but his physical stats are quite low, especially his natural fitness which is only 9. Consequently, he gets injured all the time, pretty much every other game. My question is, is there any way to improve the natural fitness stat or stop him from getting injured all the time? He's only 21 so will he become less injury prone as he ages?
 
Natural Fitness is static. As for Injury Proneness, I think it's static too but I'm not sure.
 
natural fitness is not static.

If you train him in strength and stamina, his fitness stat will improve. This stat affects how quickly he gets into shape and out of shape. It doesn't have much to do with injuries (although, not being match fit increases likelihood of injury)
