Applying for a job

Just wondered if anyone could clear this up for me.

I'm the manager at a club already, but I have applied for the Millwall vacancy and the news item "Millwall flattered by interest" has come up (regarding my application) and in it says "the chances of a deal being finalised in the immediate future were unlikely".

What does this mean? Is it to do with compensation and them not being able to afford it or something?

most probably looking at other options, sometimes when i start unemployed games and apply for jobs this same message appears then a day or 2 later they employ someone else.
