Hi Guys/Gals

I've been tinkering with my tactics, as there is now so much choice, but I can't help thinking that playing with few instructions is the best. I now only play with retain possession, tighter marking and take a breather and my team is now performing much better. I also play as Controlled and Highly Structured.

My team is now playing well consistently, unlike before where the results were so up and down.

What do you all think? How do you play your team and is there a place for all the instructions???

There's no "best". People tend to just use a million instructions without really knowing if they need it or even what it does. That's why it's good to start off simple and add as you need it. Notice the D-Line is too deep? Push higher up in that match. Notice it's too deep in general/more matches, add it to the tactic. Same for everything else.

Yeah I agree with wj just tinker with your tactic as you think is best.

also I think it depends on a team by team basis with Liverpool I try and play a possession tactic short passing which I find needs a lot of instruction to get it how I want it but with cardiff I played a simple 442 with hardly any instructions and won the championship with ease.

Yep, i think WJ has got it. Keep things simple to begin with & approach each game on its own merits. If you notice you are having to add the same instructions in the majority of matches then add it on a permanant basis, same applies to removing instructions. dont be afraid to switch things up if the game dictates. Generally i will look to retain possession but if i notice the opposition is pressing high & closing us down a lot i will switch to a more direct approach & try to get in behind them. Horses for courses!
