Hi Sean first post ever from me just to say love the tactic!! Playing first season as man utd using attacking movement as training. third game of the season I beat villa 10-2 away but then my game crashed only managed a 2-1 win when I replayed. Still this tactic has some destructive powers cheers mate

I have signed Gabriel Palletta on a free coming at the end of the season along with Cedric Mongongu, Fabrice N'Sakala and Taras Stepanenko. So my wheeling and dealing is coming along well.

Right now though I am taking a punt on the old Everton loanee Denis Stracqualarsi for £1m. I will give him a go to the end of the season and see how he does and if he fails then I can send him on the first flight back to South America. Also another freebie in Jires Kembo-Ekoko, he can speak English which is good, so he will hopefully do well for me as I have struggled with my wingers so far.

Cieran Clark looks a good ball playing centre back for people starting out. Villa (in the championship) are wanting £6m-£7m though for him which is too much at this point for me.

And maybe you tried to change things in tactics to make it as effective as before, but that players do not lose it on the condition?

The only way to do this is to take away some of the closing down, but that is what makes this tactic so effective defensively. Its built on work rate - the Sacchi way.

Best way around it is to have versatile players with good conditioning and have a strong rotation policy.

1 problem i faced, because i am newb to fm. I always don't know what players to buy after every mid-season and end-season. Even there's genie scout I also have problems. Any tips from anyone? Thanks. I'm in preseason of my Swansea save. Going 2nd season.

AMAZING!!

As a follow up to my previous comments about experimenting with different attacking formations whilst keeping the defensive strength, match prep, OIs etc intact, I thought I'd post the following.

Yes, I know it's with Real Madrid therefore lots of wins should be expected, however the stand outs for me are the completely rock solid defence with the massive number of goals scored. This is actually the first save I have had where I have also managed to get C.Ronaldo working as one would expect (he just won Player of the Year and The Golden Ball).

Games Played: 36
Goals Conceded: 15
Goals Scored: 135

I'm still in January, so only half a season played so far. I wouldn't expect even Real Madrid to produce that sort of return.

The only changes I have made are to the attack formation, a slight tweak to increase the team's width, the AP ticked as playmaker, and to play home matches as "attacking" with away matches as "control". Everything else is as per the OP.

My purpose of posting this is whilst we have pretty much all seen very impressive results with one of the outstanding tactics of FM 2013, if the defensive formation is kept there are potentially other formations that could be developed which may help open other avenues of success. I know some people have mentioned slight concerns with few shots made / goals scored, so a little experimentation such as this may help.

Brilliant tactic sean, and gets my vote for tactic of the year. And if there isn't a tactic of the year contest, we should start one so you can win ^^).

The above result, 8-0 vs Fiorentina, has wrapped up the title for me! Been in and out of this game whilst doing some diss work so a lot of it was on holiday and the league form was not as good as before because of this. But still got cup final (Fiorentina) and Champions League final (Valencia) to play to complete the 6 trophy wins for the 3rd season in a row.

And of course after this I've got Euro 2020 which I am really looking forward to! If you are interested I'm doing a little story on it http://www.fm-base.co.uk/forum/foot...s/117309-san-marino-road-world-cup-glory.html

Wow that is impressive even for RM! What has been your first 11? Where did you play Ronaldo? How well do the AMs track back?

I'm going to give some tweaks a try once I've finished my season with San Marino, so I'm going to give this a go for sure.

Keep up the great work and cheers for the feedback.

Usual first 11:
SK - Casillas
FB (L) - Marcelo
BPD (L) - Pepe
BPD (R) - Albiol
FB (R) - Ramos
DM (L) - Sahin (recalled from loan)
DM (R) - Sandro (my only purchase)
AMC (L) - Ronaldo
AP - Ozil
AMC (R) - di Maria
DLF - Higuain

Interestingly Ronaldo is only my second highest rated player in the squad (8.20 average). Top honour goes to Sandro (8.24).

Playing Ronaldo in the AMC (L) position isn't that different from his more usual wider left position, I've merely adjusted his (and di Maria's) training to mirror the slightly more central role. It's worth noting that their player instructions are set to "moves into channels" rather than "cuts inside" to take more advantage of the central space between opposing centre backs / full backs and our DLF dropping deep. I haven't noticed that causing any conflict with the "cuts inside" PPM.

I needed to slightly widen this formation from your original as the 4 attackers were tripping over themselves too much with the narrow setup. The slider is only set to exactly half way though.

Most crosses still come the 2 fullbacks, and the AP has provided the most goal assists. Ronaldo is easily my top scorer, with Higuain second, di Maria 3rd.

The AMs actually track back quite well, as does the AP who sits slightly deeper than the AMs anyway due to his support role. Not as well as the wingers in your original perhaps, but they do get back and help out some.

Having a lot of fun with this at the moment. I'll send you the tactic if you like.
