Arsene Wenger uses several tactics but particularly 1 with which he starts a game.

Basic: A GK to CB's, 2 WB's, 2 CM's, 2 Wingers, an advanced play-maker and a a forward.

GK: Normal good GK.

WB's: The left is generally pacey and pushes up higher and has good finishing. Also likes to run with ball. The right WB likes to cross more (cross from byline) and does tight marking. Both WB's should have a supporting mentality.

CB's: A limited defender and a central defender. Both defender should mark tighter, the limited defender will tackle harder whereas the central defender will pass shorter.

CM's: A deep-lying Playmaker (DLP) and a Ball Winning Midfielder (BWM). The DLP should pass shorter, few risky passes, mark tighter and close down more and only defend. The BWM should mark should dribble more and pass shorter and provide support.

Wingers: An inside forward (If you are using Walcott then on the right) who should only attack, get more forward and shoot more often. A left winger who can roam from position and provide support.

Advanced playmaker (AP): You can use an enganche but he may not be much use against top teams. Makes sure he uses short passes, gets further forward and takes more risky passes. Set his mentality to attack.

Forward: A target man if Giroud and make him to hold position and dribble less. Set mentality to attack.

Team instruction: Mentality- Control, Fluidity- Fluid.

Other Instruction- be more expressive, play wider, tight marking, offside trap, roam from position, shorter passes, hassle opponents, roam from position, much higher defensive line. (select only 4 if you are telling them to be more expressive)

NOTE:

1) Arsene Wenger plays much more defensive against tough opponents.
2) Arsene Wenger uses Wilshere as a right winger.
3) Wingers should have high dribbling ability along with crossing.
4) Use 3 players with creativity of at least 15. The BWM and AP should be 2 of those 3.
5) Right WB should have good crossing ability. (In game Sagna doesn't but Jenkinson does)
6) Arsene Wenger doesn't use tiki-taka style were the tempo is much lower but rather one-touch play.

I too have tried to recreate Arsenals real tactics but with no luck. One thing i can say is, don't attempt tiki-taka with the current roster. Sure they can press and keep posession well but you'll end up with 30+ shots per goal. Games which could be won easilly may be lost due to poor finishing and bad luck.

What I did was basicly look at the best players and build a tactic yourself around them and their abilities. Arsenal has fantastic playmakers, fast wingers and great target men. Use them as intended and they'll make magic.

My top formation is 4-1-4-1 with Giroud as targetman attack, walcott and podolski as amr/aml atracking wingers, cazorla and ?zil as am playmakers support and ramsey on cm deep lying playmaker defending. fullbacks on support with central defenders on defend using offside trap and pushing higher up.

I use fluid attacking mentality with high tempo and direct passes. From fullbacks I hit early crosses at giroud, i don't wait for the overlap but instead use walcott and podolski's pace to quickly get forward and drill crosses into a usually crowded penalty box. My aim is to score more goals with fewer shot so everyone is set to shoot less often. Believe this formation has been used by Arsenal on some occasion. Works very well in the game.

Thank you very much mate,i'll try with your advices. Some questions:
1) I have to use Ramsey or Arteta as DLP (d) and Flamini as BWM (s)? And what do you think if i try to use Arteta as DLP (d) and Ramsey (or Wilshere occasionally) as BBM (in real life Ramsey is more like a Box to Box than a BWM).
2) I have to use higher tempo or lower tempo? or nothing? i think that Arsenal style is focused on higher tempo.
3) Mertesaker as a limited defender and Koscielny or Vermaelen as a CD?
4) I think Ozil is more Trequartista or an Advanced Playmaker who aims to drop into the holes and is more free to roam from his position, than a enganche who sticks his position and becomes a pivot to his team.
5) As right winger i've to set Walcott as IF (a),Wilshere as Winger (s). And Chamberlain?
6) i'm totally agree whit you when you say "Arsene Wenger doesn't use tiki-taka style were the tempo is much lower but rather one-touch play", but how could i replicate this possibility in FM's tactics? thanks a lot mate

I'll test your 4-1-4-1. two question mate:
1) Your 4-1-4-1 is for all matches or against tough opponents you make some changes (for example more supporting from wingers,a Dm and with a lower mentality)?
2) everyone is set to shoot less often or wingers only? and drill crosses is setting for wingers only or for fullbacks too?

Thank you midhaven ;)

I think Arteta plays more like a player for recycling possession and someone who takes the ball from defenders and passes it up, more like a regista? Or half back. And Ramsey as box to box, very fluid midfield. Cazorla also plays as playmaker instead of traditional winger/IF, same with Wilshere IMO.
I've had most success at Striker with Giroud as Target Man (support). Don't worry, he'll shoot and score too. But like he's been this season, a more complete player.

Play flamini against oppositions that pose a threat as BWM defend and change things up a bit when you introduce the likes of Wilshere and Podolski.

The only changes I would make are playing Ramsey as a box to box, and I would suggest playing advanced play makers on the wings with attack duty, and either support or attack advanced play maker for Ozil through the middle.

Rafiomcnick here is what I use, I rarely make any adjustments to this one and always ignore the assistant. If the opposition manages to take advantage of the gap between defense and midfield just drop mentality to counter.

Thank you mate,i'll try whit your tactic. Maybe i'll make one adjustment,a 4-2-3-1 with a BBM for an AM.

First, in real life I think the role of the other CM actually depends on who is playing it. With Ramsay or Wilshere the second CM is a BBM. When Arteta pairs Flamini, Arteta is more of a DLP. To me, this year IRL Ramsay is the epitome of a box to box midfielder.

While 3 years old this was a great article on Arsenal tactics to FM:
The 2010-2011 Arsenal 4-2-3-1 | Mantralux FM

What I've always wanted to recreate was the quick passing but very positive style that Arsenal has always used. Its not like tiki-taka because its not about retaining possession at all costs and slowly wearing down the opposition but rather about incisive one touch passing that is short but also direct. I've always had trouble in different FM/CM trying to recreate this so I'd be interested in any other ideas as well.

Problem with FM is that you will eventually be forced to play posession. If you dominate with direct attacking tactics in the first season most teams will eventually "park the bus" and destroy your beautiful play. In my second season I was forced to get rid of walcott, ox and podolski. No place for them in my now possession playing Arsenal. :(

What formation are you using now? A narrow one without wide attacking players or just using players like Santi on the wings?

My formation is a bit weird now, but it works. But I use a narrow one without fast wingers. Using posession and low-risk but creative passes to get through. Usually have 60-70% posession, below 15 shots per game but get just as many goals as before, if not more. Tho at this point I'm far from trying to play like Arsenal. The game just wouldn't allow me to win like that any more.
Got Santi on the left, ?zil on the right and wilshere center as creators with two strikers (false 9 and 10) trying to probe holes as they pass around.

i'm not a good tactician but you can't use retain possession with higher tempo. i think you have too many "specialists" for fluid Philosophy (max 1-2 "specialists"),and in your formation "specialists" are 3 and 1/2( 1/2BBM- 1Trequartista-1DLP-1TM).

With insane AI tackling ability i gave up on all possesion based tactics. Started Arsenal save recently: play 4-2-3-1 attacking/balanced tactic when being 1,8 and better favorite and 4-3-3 standard(counter)/rigid when i am slight favorite(underdog). So far, so good. Accross all competitions have 8 2 1 score (+ 2 wins in CL qualifications 4th round).
