How many people can honestly say they knew loads about Vermaelen before he joined? and hes a tank.

Trust Wenger, he hardly ever signs bad players.

All I'm saying is that this came from the blue, for me, never heard of him, or any rumours to your or any club
 
good a cb what we needed hope him and Vermaelan have a great partnership Wenger now sign another 2 Centerbacks a keeper and ozil and thats us sorted

Hopefully a good signing. Would have preferred somebody proven but Wenger hasn't disappointed with certain signings so far.
 
Apparently he is really good in the air, something we have been lacking for the past few seasons.
 
Havn't heard much about him, but he looks pretty decent. over 6 foot, which is always a plus for a defender. There were doubts when he signed vermalen, but he's turned out brilliant, and wenger knows who to buy. Although i maybe would have liked a more 'proven' defender, I think Koscienly can have a great time at arsenal - if wenger thinks so anyway, I do too....he's french (well also polish) too which always helps for arsenal...

Wenger knows his French football, doubt he'll flop. Never know though.
 
Arsenal bolster their defence by signing centre-back Laurent Koscielny from Lorient for an undisclosed fee.

Good defensive signing, hopefully he can replace William Gallas and form a good partnership with Vermaelen.
 
I have never heard of him so I cannot tell you about him this time.
 
Delighted, didn't expect it to be completed this soon, i think the fee is around £8.5m, he's young and was playing on the bench in Ligue 2 four years ago so hopefully it's another French player Wenger has spotted as a great prospect/player now. He got sent off last year for Lorient after a foul on Marouane Chamakh!
 
Just like no one had heard of clichy, song, diaby, Bendnter, Hleb......... He could be a good signing
