Wenger Retires!
Arsene Wenger has retired from his post at Arsenal leaving the chair to be filled by Academy Coach ‘Xin’ Monnox. Though inexperienced, he has been at the ranks at the Emirates for several years, developing a relationship with the squad and learning under Arsene Wenger.

Subs: A. Diaby (6.5) T. Walcott (6.7) van Persie (N.A)

Man of the Match: M. Almunia – Inspiring Performance
Flop of the Match: C. Vela – Didn’t grab the headlines in chance ahead on van Persie

Manager Feedback: The 0-0 scoreline doesn’t reflect a boring game, both teams went horns in yet couldn’t break each other down, Almunia particularly impressed and deserved the Man of The Match Award and Koscielny’s competitive debut was pleasing.

Clichy, Sagna, Squilacci and Diaby are lacking match practice due to their long breaks after the international bans. van Persie was rested coming back tired from international duty. Alex Song, Denilson & Djourou are all expected back in training this week.

21/8/2010 – Arsenal 3 – 3 Sunderland (H) (TV)

Line Up: M. Almunia (6.8) E. Eboue (6.7) G. Clichy (6.7) L. Koscielny (6.7) T. Vermaelen (6.6) A. Arshavin (6.1) T. Rosicky (6.8) C. Fabregas (6.9) S. Nasri (6.7) van Persie (7.9) M. Chamakh (8.8)

Subs: Maxwell (N.A) A. Diaby (6.5) T. Walcott (6.9)

Goals: van Persie, M. Chamakh (2)

Man of the Match: M. Chamakh – Netted a nice brace
Flop of the Match: A. Arshavin – Replaced by Walcott who assisted final goal

Manager Feedback: Good attacking display from the two teams, it was disappointing not to get 3 points at home but pleased to draw after having to equalise 3 times.

I was delighted that Chamakh bagged his first Arsenal goal at the Emirates with a superb brace.

29/8/2010 – Arsenal 0 – 4 Manchester United (A) (TV)

Line Up: M. Almunia (6.1) B. Sagna (6.4) G. Clichy (6.3) L. Koscielny (6.0) T. Vermaelen (6.7 s/o) A. Arshavin (6.1) S. Nasri (6.8) C. Fabregas (6.7) A. Song (6.3) van Persie (5.7) M. Chamakh (6.6)

Subs: S. Squillaci (5.8) T. Rosicky (N.A) T. Walcott (6.5)

Man of the Match: Nobody
Flop of the Match: T. Vermaelen – Sent off in the 38th minute

Manager Feedback: Fairly even game until Vermaelen’s sending off, United dominated from then onwards.

Month Overview: I am disappointed to have only collected 2 points out of a possible 9, though unlucky, improvement is needed and the squad need to adapt fast especially with Chelsea next to visit, away fixture against Roma then a trip to White Hart Lane. I am Delighted to have signed Elia from HSV before the transfer window shut and hope he can deliver.

September:

11/9/2010 – Arsenal 2 - 0 Chelsea (H)

Line Up: M. Almunia (7.2) B. Sagna (6.9) G. Clichy (7.0) L. Koscielny (7.5) J. Djourou (7.2) A. Arshavin (7.8) T. Rosicky (6.9) C. Fabregas (7.1) A. Song (7.0) van Persie (7.3 s/o) M. Chamakh (7.4)

Subs: A. Diaby

Goals: van Persie, M. Chamakh

Man of the Match: A. Arshavin – Ran all game and crafted 2 assists
Flop of the Match: R. van Persie – Despite scoring the first goal he did leave the field in the 42nd minute after a rash challenge.

Manager Feedback: Delighted with the result and attitude of the team after the heavy 4-0 defeat at Manchester United the team shown spirit and character in the win even after being down to 10 men, compared to the Man United game. Still it concerns me the second red card in two games. Disappointed van Persie will not be available for Tottenham as his partnership with Chamakh has looked promising in the small amount of game time they’ve played together.

14/9/2010 – Arsenal 2 – 0 Roma (A) (TV) (Champions League)

Line Up: M. Almunia (6.9) B. Sagna (8.2) G. Clichy (7.3) L. Koscielny (7.1) J. Djourou (7.0) A. Arshavin (6.9) T. Rosicky (8.3) C. Fabregas (6.9) A. Song (6.9) van Persie (6.9) M. Chamakh (7.7)

Goals: T. Rosicky, M. Chamakh

Man of the Match: T. Rosicky – Created havoc at Olympico with a goal and an assist

Manager Feedback: Pleased how we came on our travels without fear and played our game against a tough Roma side, the fullbacks attacked the flanks all night feeding balls for Chamakh. Van Persie picked up a knee injury and looks set to be out for 3-4 weeks.

18/9/2010 – Arsenal 0 – 1 Tottenham (A)

Line Up: M. Almunia (6.8) B. Sagna (6.6) G. Clichy (6.9) L. Koscielny (6.8) J. Djourou (7.7) A. Arshavin (6.9) T. Rosicky (6.7) C. Fabregas (6.4) A. Song (6.7) S. Nasri (6.5) M. Chamakh (6.6)

Subs: J. Wilshire (N.A) T. Walcott (6.2) C. Vela (6.1)

Man of the Match: J. Djourou – Inspired performance from the defender
Flop of the Match: C. Fabregas – Failed to convert from the spot in the dying minutes.

Manager Feedback: Disappointed to come away empty handed especially as given the chance from the spot. Pleased that M. Chamakh’s knock will only keep him out for a few days.

21/9/2010 Arsenal 2 – 1 Peterborough (A) (League Cup)

Line Up: L. Fabianski (6.9) E. Eboue (6.8) Maxwell (6.9) S. Squillaci (6.9) J. Djourou (6.9) T. Walcott (6.9) K. Gibbs (6.6) J. Wilshire (6.9) A. Song (7.0) Denilson (7.4) C. Vela (6.9)

Subs: L. Koscielny (7.5) S. Nasri (6.9) A. Diaby (N.A)

Goals: L. Koscielny, Denilson

Man of the Match: L. Koscielny – Came on for an injured Eboue early on and looked strong defensively, scored a header from a C. Vela cross to go 1-0 up early in the second half.

Manager Feedback: Pleased to progress to the next stage. Eboue should only be out for a few days and should be fit for West Ham.

25/9/2010 Arsenal 1 – 0 West Ham (H) (TV)

Line Up: M. Almunia (6.8) B. Sagna (7.0) G. Clichy (7.5) L. Koscielny (7.6) J. Djourou (6.8) A. Arshavin (7.1) T. Rosicky (6.9) C. Fabregas (7.3) Denilson (6.9) C. Vela (6.8) M. Chamakh (7.3)

Subs: A. Song (N.A) A. Diaby (N.A)

Goals: M. Chamakh

Man of the Match: L. Koscielny – Another solid performance at centre back for the new arrival.

Manager Feedback: Pleased at the amount of chances created however converting them would be nice. Still pleased with the much needed 3 points.

29/9/2010 Arsenal 1 – 0 Schalke (H) (TV) (Champions League)

Line Up: M. Almunia (8.3) B. Sagna (7.1) G. Clichy (6.9) L. Koscielny (7.2) T. Vermaelen (7.4) A. Arshavin (7.0) T. Rosicky (7.0) C. Fabregas (6.9) A. Diaby (6.9) C. Vela (6.8) M. Chamakh (6.9)

Subs: A. Song (N.A) E. Elia (N.A) T. Walcott (N.A)

Goals: A. Uchida o.g.

Man of the Match: M. Almunia

Manager Feedback: Important 3 points towards qualification pleased E. Elia is finally ready to play

Month Overview: Generally happier about this month than last, the two European victories and the victory against Chelsea were certainly something. Disappointed to lose Tottenham yet they’ve not lost yet and sit top of the league along with Manchester United. 8 points of the title leaders yet it’s early days yet.

Good layout, liking the cleanness. Not-so-good results tho, unlucky against Spurs ;)
