The thing is he`s 30 years old so why would you pay 6.5m for a back up who`s not going to improve although we need experinece players.

Defenders do peak later. 30 isn't a bad age. He has experience and is not a bad defender. Around the 5m mark is a fair price, but in this market no-one needs to sell, hence everyone overpaying.

Good signing, but in a way (I know I'm not an Arsenal fan) it would be nice to see them buy a less good player so Koscielny and Vermaelan's places are guaranteed, looking forward to seeing that partnership flourish.
