Arsene Wenger is planning on leaving Arsenal at the end of the season with this season set to be transitional for a new manager.

Wenger's final season with the club will see him without key assistants Gerry Peyton and Tony Colbert, who have left the club. It is believed Arsenal have approached Chelsea goalkeeping coach Christophe Lollichon who has a good rapport with Petr Cech to replace Peyton.

Arsenal have already signed Granit Xhaka from Gladbach and are closing in on a deal to sign Bolton defender Rob Holding.

No formal announcement will be made on Wenger's future - and he could of course stay. But sources close to the Frenchman believe Wenger could stray from his preferred tactical philosophies this season.
Arsenal are also linked with signing Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema.

Following the departures of Gerry Peyton, Tony Colbert, Steve Bould and Neil Banfield, Arsenal have moved to appoint a new coaching setup under changes initiated by Arsene Wenger.

The Frenchman has a year remaining on his contract and speculation points towards a departure in May 2017. However, Wenger has reluctantly decided that the team needs a new direction if it is to win the Premier League, following a rotational model used by Alex Ferguson.

Wenger has not appointed an assistant manager, and sources close to the club say the role may be universally shared amongst the coaching staff. The club are also looking at appointing Per Mertesacker as a player coach to avoid a scenario like Mikel Arteta but this wouldn't be implemented whilst Mertesacker maintains a significant role in the first team.
