my experience with Atletico
Hello guys and thank you for the interesting guide of Atletico Madrid. As I am currently starting my 4th season with them on version FM 10.3, I will share my experience which is also quite interesting.
I have started with Atletico, not because is my top-favourite team ... but for sure is my 1st option beside English Premier League which I normally play.
Well the beginning - 1st season: Due to generally budget I did not hav so much options for transfers. First thing was to choose the best tactic and start building a long-term team with having strong 1st team squad and back-up. I have chose a tactic: 4-2-3-1 having 4 in DF, 2 in DM/CM, 2 wingers + 1 AMC and 1 ST only. This tactic I used for all matches, only making difference in team settings when having away or home /attacking, control, deffence, counter and contain mentality/. My 1st season was with the following squad:
GK - ASENJO /DE GEA
DL - LOPEZ/DOMINGUEZ
DR - VALERA
DC - CABRERA+UJFALUSI. I have loaned in DC Leo from Brasil ... which I have bought on my 2nd season and turns out to be great DF
DMC/CM - CAMACHO + RAUL GARCIA. I have loaned in DMRC Bernardo from Brasil - same effect as the loan of Leo ...great player in the next few years
AML - REYES
AMR - SIMAO. I have bought AMR Ivelin Popov from Bulgaria for just 1.5 m € and sold him in 2 years for 4.5 m € to Recreativo
AMC - AGUERO
FC - FORLAN
My 1st season was quite a successful: QF in Champions League and 3rd place in La Liga. I have decided to keep most of the players + bought Bernardo and Leo at the of season. I have received quite a solid transfer budget for the 2nd season which helped me build stronger squad as follows:
GK - DE GEA / ASENJO. DE GEA became one of my 5 players which I planned to build a strong squad for 5-6 years ahead
DL - LOPEZ / DOMINGUEZ
DR - VALERA / DE VRIES /young dutch DF bought for 1.5 M €/
DC - CABRERA + LEO + TOPRAK. I have bought OMER TOPRAK from Germany for some 8 M €, but it really became a stolid part of my DF. CABRERA is the 2nd player of my Top 5
DMC/CM - CAMACHO + RAUL GARCIA + BERNARDO. CAMACHO - is my 3rd player in Top 5.
AMR - SIMAO/POPOV. I have sold both at the end of season 2 receving some 12 M € for both players
AML - REYES/MALOUDA. I have bought MALOUDA for a bargain of 4 M € and became my first choice AML
AMC - AGUERO/RIQUELME. AGUERO is the 4th Top player. And needed Riquelme for solid back up
FC - FORLAN/NEYMAR/PACHECO. Bought NEYMAR for some 20 m € but this was the plan and very soon I had my 5th top player. I used PACHECO only as back-up with the purpose of selling him in general.
You may ask why using AGUERO as AMC ... but believe me .. he assists and scores equally perfect, not lest than 15-20 goals per season. The result after 2nd season was Winner of Champions League+Super Euro Cup + World Club Champs and 3rd place again in La Liga.
Just in brief about my 3rd season which I had ended yesterday:
I have bought 2 young starlets for back-up in the deffence: AURIER and DODO - both WBL, both just under 20 years. I have bought GARETH BALE as WBL in the winter transfer window for some 10 m € and became 1st choice WBL. I have loaned in MATS RITS from Liverpool - wonderkind. He is MC ... I have just loaned him again for my next season as Liverpool does not sell him. I have bought GOURCOUFF for some 20 m € and loaned WILSHERE from Arsenal ... they replaced SIMAO and POPOV ... Well Wilshere is just amazing ... bu Arsenal wants more than 35 m € for him to sell him. At the season 3 I have lost on QF in Champions League but became champion of La Liga ... which ruined Barcelona and RM hegemony.
After 3 seasons I have sold REYES and PACHECO and have bought OZIL - AML; LUKAKU - ST; KOLAROV - WBL; RONALDINHO - AMR. So I am still improving my squad ... for finally making a double/treble ... while keeping the solid 5 players + new faces + and experienced veterans
