Well, since FM decided to corrupt my last save with Nott'm Forest, I have decided to start a new game with Fiorentina and use it to run a story sorta thing. I'm going to try and tell the story through the media, this might be a little trickier than just telling it from my perspective, but I'll give it a try anyway.

I’m using the FM WeeGie update on a large datatbase with the following leagues loaded:
• English Premiership
• English Championship
• English League 1
• English League 2
• Spanish La Liga
• Italian Serie A
• Italian Serie B
• German Bundesliga
• Scottish Premier League
• Brazilian First Division (view-only)
• Argentinian First Division (view-only)

So, here's what I've already written up so far. Hope you guys like it, any comments would be appreciated ;)

Sky Sports News

“News just in that ex-England striker Sean Hutchinson has been confirmed as the new manager at Italian giants Fiorentina. We now go over to our Italian correspondant outside the Artemio Franchi stadium, Mike Tozzetto. Mike, whats the news from Florence?”

“Well Tim, in the last hour news has spread that former Newcastle striker Sean Hutchinson has signed a one year deal worth around £25,000 a week to become the new manager of AC Fiorentina. It seems that the appointment will be officially announced at a press conference scheduled for 3pm tomorrow afternoon. A Fiorentina spokesperson released a statement 15 minutes ago saying that a manager had been found and that further details will be announced later in the day. However, Hutchinson was sighted entering the ground earlier this morning and was greeted by chairman Diego Della Valle. There have been no reports of him leaving yet so all the signs point towards Hutchinson being the new manager here at Fiorentina.”

“Thanks Mike. So it looks like England legend Sean Hutchinson will take his first manager’s role in Italy. But now let’s have a look at his playing career statistics...”

Monday 3rd July 2006

Gazzetta dello Sport

Sean Hutchinson was unveiled as the new Fiorentina boss earlier today. Fans seem impressed by the appointment made by the chairman, and believe that a person of Hutchinson’s reputation will be the right man to take their beloved club forward and into a new era.

Now let’s have a look at the players at Hutchinson’s disposal this season:

Sebastien Frey
Fiorentina’s best goalkeeper in years. He was bought from Parma by his old boss last season. Looked very good during his first year at Fiorentina and will look to build on that with his new manager.

Vlada Avramov
A Serbian international ‘keeper, most probably will be used as backup to Frey, but a solid one at that. However Sean Hutchinson may want to bring in his own long-term replacement for Frey in the summer transfer window.

Tomas Ujfalusi
He has been a consistent performer for the team since he was signed back in 2004. A rock at the back and will probably first choice centre back.

Anthony Vanden Borre
A new signing to the club. A very good prospect for the future and may well get his share of first-team action under Hutchinson.

Alessandro Potenza
22 year old Italian left back who, until his recent birthday, was a regular Italy U21 player. He has potential but it remains to be seen whether he will be kept or sold on under the new management.

Dario Dainelli
Dario is a solid Italian centre back and, with 1 full international cap under his belt, should be a solid choice at the back along with Ujfalusi.

Alessandro Gamberini
Decent centre back with good man marking. However, that is all he has and may be moved on by Hutchinson.

Per Kroldrup
Huge 6ft 4” centre half. Will probably used as a backup defender behind Ujfalusi and Dainelli.

Federico Balzaretti
The 24 year old Italian can play on either side of defense. He may get his chance in the first team but will most likely play a backup role.

Manuel Pasqual
First choice left back and the club’s best full back. He gained his first cap for Italy earlier this year and reports suggest that this kid could go places.

Marco Donadel
The only senior defensive midfielder at the club and but a reasonably good one at that. However, this may be an area of the team in which Hutchinson will strengthen in.

Massimo Gobbi
Another new signing to the club, 25 year old Gobbi is a sturdy and reliable central midfielder and could be a regular fixture in the first team.

Fabio Liverani
A new signing from Lazio, Liverani brings stability to the midfield, along with a wealth of experience. He can be deployed in either an attacking role, or something a bit more defensive.

Do Prado
Failed to make an impact for Fiorentina in his first year, never playing a league game. He may be allowed to leave this year, depending on Hutchinson’s views on the Brazilian.

Martin Jorgensen
He is a very talented Danish winger who can play on either side. Looks set to play an integral part of Hutchinson’s plans.

Mario Santana
He showed his class at Palermo on the right wing, earning himself a call up to the Argentina squad, and a big money move to Fiorentina. Good pace, crossing and ball control contribute to this winger’s quality.

Adrian Mutu
After controversy shrouded his time at Chelsea, the Romanian striker moved on to Juventus. He however failed to impress at Turin and was swiftly moved on. Hutchinson will have to learn how to control Mutu if he is to get the best from him.

Valeri Bojinov
Another ex-Juve player. Can play either out wide on the right, or up front. The Bulgarian wonderkid could prove to be Hutchinson’s secret weapon if he is used correctly.

Riccardo Montolivo
This is probably the most technically gifted player in the squad. At 21 years of age, he is being touted as the next best thing from Italy and is on the verge of breaking into the international set-up.

Cristiano Lucarelli
A late starter in football terms. At 30 years of age he has only just started to show his quality in the last few years. A strong target man for the new manager to deploy.

Gianpaolo Pazzini
What a gem of a player Fiorentina have here. They could face stiff competition in keeping this amazing talent at the club over the next few seasons.

So from that we can say that new manager Sean Hutchinson has an exciting squad here in Italy. He may look to strengthen in the midfield, reports suggesting Claudio Maldonado and Hatem Ben Arfa could be possible transfer targets.

I'm writing this up as I play so I don't forget anything. More will follow very soon.

Fiorentina boss Sean Hutchinson has wasted no time in recruiting new staff to the backroom. Youth coach Guy Mengual has been recruited from French side Monaco while assistant manager Gabriele Pin has left the club after mutual termination of his contract. 34 year old Brazilian Julinho has took over Pin’s role. Four new scouts were also hired, including Wigan’s David Hamilton.

News of the World

Fiorentina today completed a double swoop, bagging youngster Lauri Dalla Valle from Finnish side JIPPO for a nominal fee, and promising striker Aaron Niguez from Valencia for £925,000. Both were signed on two-year deals and were given wages of £800 per week. Both players’ former clubs have said although they were sad to let their young prospects leave, they felt that it was time for them to further their careers at another club.

So there you go, signs already showing that although he was only given a one-year contract, Sean Hutchinson is doing his best for the future of this illustrious club by signing two of Europe’s hottest prospects.

Delemont 0-1 Fiorentina

An easy pre-season friendly for Fiorentina. An excellent individual goal from new signing Dalla Valle was enough for the victory.

The Guardian

It seems that Fiorentina boss Sean Hutchinson is ready to make a move for Nigerian ‘keeper Vincent Enyeama. It is rumoured that the international could be allowed to leave his current employers Bnei Yehuda for as little as £150,000 and Hutchinson is looking to snap him up before another club do. Scottish giants Rangers are also watching the ‘keeper’s situation very closely.

After a relatively quite week or so at Artemio Franchi, news broke today that Fiorentina had signed French midfielder Hatem Ben Arfa from Ligue 1 champions Lyon. The deal to bring the playmaker to the club is reportedly in the region of £9,000,000, with the fee rising to £12,250,000 based on performances. The youngster was said to be delighted to be part of the first team set-up at Fiorentina and although he didn’t expect an automatic place, was eager to prove to his manager that he deserved one.

Amid all the excitement of the new signing, the futures of Alessandro Potenza and Alessandro Gamberini have come under jeopardy today, following bids in the region of £1,500,000 for each player from a number of clubs, incuding Serie A rivals Sampdoria.

Santos midfielder Claudio Maldonado has been spotted in Florence, believed to be discussing terms with Fiorentina over a £6,500,000 move. Boss Hutchinson had earlier in the week commented on the lack of strength in his midfield area and said that he was looking to invest in a defensive minded player. Maldonado would be a great addition to the current squad, and with 34 caps for Chile, he has the experience to help drive the club forward.

Wednesday 19th July 2006

Fiorentina defender Alessandro Potenza has completed his £1.2 million move to Atalanta. Former boss Sean Hutchinson had this to say on the deal:
“I assessed the squad as soon as I arrived here. There are a few players that I believed to be not good enough for the team, and Alessandro was one of them. You can expect a few more players’ departures before the start of the season.”

Elsewhere, Hutchinson has appeared to have launched a £2.5 million bid for Dinamo Zagrem defender Vedran Corluka. Although it was said earlier in the month that there was no need for strengthening the Fiorentina defence, it seems that with the departure of Potenza, and the imminent sale of centre back Gamberini, Hutchinson has decided to bring in some young blood to bolster his back line.

as ive already said im using the weegie update, which has all transfers up to 6/7/07 so that means toni is at bayern munich

Friday 21st July 2006

BBC Football
Fiorentina today announced the signing of Chilean defensive midfielder Claudio Maldonado for £7 million. The ex-Santos captain has signed a 4 year deal with his new club, and has said that he is delighted to get the chance to work with Sean Hutchinson.

Chievo have completed the signing of Fiorentina centre back Alessandro Gamberini for £1.7 million. This transfer has fuelled rumours that Croatian defender Vedran Corluka is set to join the Sean Hutchinson revolution at Fiorentina.

Thursday 27th July 2006

The Daily Mirror

Fiorentina midfielder Do Prado joins Pisa one a season long loan. Sean Hutchinson continued his policy of buying for the future when he announced two more signings, both from France. Goalkeeper Joris Delle was signed from Metz, and promising striker Henri Saivet from Bordeaux.

Both youngsters are highly rated in France and are said to have bright futures in the game.

Piacenza 0-0 Fiorentina

A very bland pre-season friendly. The only notable action was in the 56th minute when Riccardo Montolivo went down injured and had to be stretchered off.

www.physioroom.com

Fiorentina’s Riccardo Montolivo is out for a week with a bruised shin. The injury occurred during a pre-season friendly away to Piacenza. His team mate, Dario Dainelli, is also injured. However, his is far worse than Montolivo’s. Dainelli damaged his cruciate ligaments during training yesterday, meaning he will be out for 7 to 8 months. This is a massive blow for Fiorentina boss Sean Hutchinson, especially since transfer target Vedran Corluka has agreed to join Chelsea.

Giarre outclassed by Fiorentina

Giarre 0-5 Fiorentina (Italian Cup 1st qualifying round)

Pazzini (3, 5, 23, 65, 84)

This was new manager Sean Hutchinson's first competetive match in charge, and there were no suprises at Comunale as a far superior Fiorentina team overcame lowly rivals Giarre by a resounding 5-0 scoreline. On a fine summer's evening, the game went true to expectation as the smaller team provided no real match for their illustrious opponents.

Pazzini in top form as Fiorentina dominate

Gianpaolo Pazzini turned in a performance of the highest quality during Fiorentina's 5-0 thumping of Giarre this evening, writes Dan Lewis. The explosive striker netted his first by skinning an opponent on his way to scoring a well executed finish. He then bagged another four goals, five in total, to ensure Fiorentina dominated the match. Pazzini signed for Serie A side Fiorentina in 2004 and has been attracting the attention of former English champions Arsenal in recent weeks.

Serie A title odds for season 06/07

Inter - 6/4 (fav)
Roma - 7/4
Milan - 8/1
Lazio - 16/1
Palermo - 33/1
Juventus - 33/1

Fiorentina - 150/1

Florence favourites Fiorentina are tipped to be this year's dark horse. With a new manager and a few quality signings already in the bag this summer, Fiorentina look like they are going places, and at 150/1, they could prove to be a nice little earner. Bear in mind, however, that the Florence team do have a 15 point deduction, meaning they start the season on -15 points, and it will be difficult to overcome this and still win the league. But hey, at that price, why not give it a shot, they may just suprise you!

That's it for today. More to come tomorrow. What do you guys think? ;)

Sweet rodney, keep posting as this kind of shiz is good to read. Nice one.

Poor finishing costs Ascoli dear in 2-0 defeat

Ascoli 0-2 Fiorentina (Italian Cup 2nd qualifying round)

Mutu (13), Bojinov (82)

In a suprisingly even game at Cino e Lillo Del Duca, Fiorentina came away with the victory in their Italian Cup 2nd Round qualifying match. Ascoli failed to show the same level of ruthlessness in front of goal as their opponents and payed the price with a 2-0 defeat.

The draw for the UEFA cup first round was made today. Teams seeded for the draw included Dutch side Heerenveen, Enlgish side Everton and Italian sleeping giants Fiorentina. Everton were drawn against Czech outfit Mlada Boleslav, while Heerenveen got Braga from Portugal. Fiorentina were given a tricky encounter with Norwegian side Lillestrom.

The first leg matches are scheduled for the 14th September, while the second legs will take place a fortnight later on the 28th.

Bolton Wanderers today confirmed that veteran centre back come midfielder Ivan Campo had joined Fiorentina for a fee of £1.4 million. Fiorentina boss and ex-England striker Sean Hutchinson is reportedly a big fan of Campo, and is delighted to have completed his signing before his team's league campaign begins in two weeks time.

Gazzetta dello Sport

This year saw an extremely busy transfer window her in Italy, with more than 450 players coming and going. While Parma spent the most amount on a single player, forking out £9.25 million on Shakhtar striker Elano, it was Fiorentina who were the busiest team during the window.

New boss Sean Hutchinson has only been at the Florence club since the start of July but he has wasted no time in flexing his new club's financial muscle, spending no less than £22 million on new recruits. Here Gazzetta takes an overall look at the new manager's transfer dealings over his first 2 months in charge:

Players in

Lauri Dalla Valle - £95k from JIPPO
Aaron Niguez - £325k from Valencia
Hatem Ben Arfa - £12.25 million from Lyon
Claudio Maldonado - £7 million from Santos
Henri Saivet - £350k from Bordeaux
Joris Delle - £180k from Metz
Ivan Campo - £1.4 million

Players out

Alessandro Potenza - £1.2 million to Atalanta
Alessandro Gamberini - £1.7 million Chievo
Do Prado - loaned to Pisa

So there you have it. After a very busy transfer window Sean Hutchinson can finally relax and now concentrate on his side's up coming fixture against Atalanta.

Fiorentina hammer Atalanta

Fiorentina 2-0 Atalanta (Serie A)

Bojinov (51), Pazzini (57)

Fiorentina enjoyed near total domination over a distinctly average Atalanta side at Artemio Franchi this evening. Viola ran out 2-0 winners and in reality the winning margin could, and perhaps should have been far greater.

Fiorentina star Riccardo Montolivo was in some pain yesterday following their match against Atalanta, and the attacking midfielder is reported to be suffering from a hip injury. Manager Sean Hutchinson has opted for his player to fly to France to see a specialist rather than having him treated at the club. This blow will keep the Italian star out of action for two months, giving starlet Hatem Ben Arfa a chance to show his manager just what he's capable of.

Hatem Ben Arfa - £12.25 million from Lyon

Surely you must have forked out on the most player! Eyyy got you there! :)

was a good read that. keep up the good work. my monitor is broke at home so i can only get online at the girlfreinds :(

Really thinking about doing one of these for my Wolves game...
