The Bangor players seemed up for the game, after narrowly dropping out of Europe. The first game of the season is always a hard one, with Llanelli, the Welsh Cup winners being hosted at Nantporth. City took the lead just after the half hour with a fortunate Dan Newton strike, who was in the right place at the right time to deflect a clearance into the Llanelli goal. Llanelli then struck back either side of half time to turn the game on it's head. They then increased their lead through a penalty, only for the Citizens to peg them back at 3-2 with a pen of their own, scored by debutant centre-back Felicien Singbo. Unfortunately for the home side, Llanelli sealed the win with a late strike from on loan Boro man Charlie Wyke. A kick in the teeth for Southgate, surely.

The Citizens had a point to prove this game, after being slaughtered by Llanelli last game, away at Lee Trundle's Neath. Southgate dropped his adventurous 4-3-2-1 formation in favour of a more traditional 4-4-2 and is currently working wonders. Barely 20 minutes were on the clock when Newton laid the ball off to Collum, 25 yards out, and the Irish youngster made no mistake with a beautiful strike into the far corner. Newton may have been fortunate against Llanelli to score, but there was no fortune about his strike to put Bangor 2 up. Collum returned the favour to Newton, who ran past 2 Neath defenders to rifle a rising 30 yard shot past the keeper into the roof of the net. After half-time, Southgate set his team out to control the game, and the only noticable chance after the interval was Katterfield's goal. Holland laid the ball to the byline for Weldon to bend into the box, from which Katterfield made no mistake from close range. City restore winning ways with a dominant victory.

Bangor again dominated preceedings with Southgate's new 4-4-2 formation. Burrows had the Citizens off to an early start with a good finish from the edge of the box, and when Katterfield was brought down in the box just after the half hour, Singbo made no mistake from the spot. For all of City's play and dominance, the game was largely forgetful, with only 4 shots out of 18 on target all game. Collum made the game safe for the side from the North just before the hour with a good finish from 12 yards. Collum definately has impressed this month, and along with Dan Newton, made their U21 debuts for Ireland and Wales, respectively.

The two goals, one assist, a Welsh Premier League MotM award from midfield and U21 callup from his country means Sean just narrowly edges out his main competeter for the award, Dan Newton. Given a much more effective free role alongside experienced Turk midfielder Yuksel Sariyar, Collum has prospered, even in these early days.

The game against TNS saw 3rd play 4th in what turned out to be a tale of two fouls. The first half saw nothing to report, however two minutes into the second half Dan Newton was clipped in the box and Felicien Singbo stepped up to put the Citizens in front. This goal made the wing-back Bangor's top scorer, all from penalty kicks. With only 10 minutes to go, however, City squandered the 3 points as Michael Johnston was sent off for handball on the line, which seemed harsh at the time, but replays showed he did handle the ball. Spender made no mistake from the spot and both teams finished the game with a share of the spoils.

City came into this game against 11th placed Lido off the back of dropping two points last time out. The Citizens showed their intent when after only 13 minutes centre-back David Morley headed City in front. Two penalties in 10 minutes, both won by Jake Burrows, and both converted by top scorer Singbo, put Bangor well in control. Jake Burrows' sliding effort halfway through the 2nd half ensured an emphatic victory of which the scoreline didn't flatter Bangor one bit.

After the 4-0 demolition of Afan Lido the week before, City went into what appeared to be a hard game against 2nd placed Carmarthen. These preconceptions were quickly put to the sword just after the half-hour, when Welsh U21 striker Dan Newton put Bangor ahead with a smart finish. Newton then doubled the Citizens' advantage after the restart, and in-form attacking midfielder-turned-striker Jake Burrows finished off the rout with 15 minutes to go. The Citizens look good for the title and haven't lost since the first game of the season.

Airbus posed a tricky tie for high-flying City, and with Llanelli dropping points, The Citizens could top the table with a victory. However, things didn't go to plan from the off with Airbus taking the lead with their first shot on target. This came completely against the run of play, with Bangor having all the chances up until that point. The equaliser was coming, and when it did, 5 minutes before the interval, Newton was on hand to poach home a good finish from the outstanding Jake Burrows. After the restart, a five minute flurry of strikes produced 3 goals for the Citizens. First, Yuksel Sariyar put City in front with a perfect 30 yard free-kick, then turned provider for Newton to net his second brace in as many games. Burrows then completed the rout as Bangor topped the table for the first time this season.

The outstanding Jake Burrows further enhanced his reputation in this match as he struck two goals to ensure City ended September top of the league. The English striker found the net for his 4th goal in as many games after only 8 minutes, after Dan Newton's trickery on the edge of the box found Burrows unmarked. Newtown then had defender Wells sent off for a two footed challenge on Katterfield, which left it's mark on the young winger. Burrows doubled the Citizens' advantage just before half time with a good strike from the edge of the box. Newtown pulled one back through Partridge, however City held on to take all 3 points and end the month unbeaten.

It was only ever going to be the Grimsby-born striker. This month alone he has clocked up 5 goals, 3 assists, the official Welsh Prem Player of the Month and a place in the Team of the Month. Released from his attacking-midfield role by Southgate's new 4-4-2, him and Newton are quickly forming one of the most prolific strike partnerships in the league.

The 1st round saw City play without Striker Dan Newton, who was on international duty with the Wales U21's. Bangor are by no means a one man team, however they struggled to get any sort of hold on this game, and when the ball rebounded off the post and into the goal via goalkeeper Stuart Searle's back, it wasn't City's day. The scrappy affair was finished in the 2nd half when Talbot killed off the game with their second goal. Unexpected exit from the cup for The Citizens.

The gameplan seemed to fall apart as the home side struck within the first 40 seconds, however the brilliant Jake Burrows equalised in the 22nd minute with a finish we have become accustomed to. Burrows put Bangor into the lead with another pinpoint strike just before half-time. After Newton, back from international duty, won a penalty just after the hour, Singbo passed up the opportunity to take the pen to David Morley, who made no mistake. Back to winning ways for City.

After slipping out of the cup at the hands of Port Talbot, City then met them in the league, where a win would put Bangor 5 points clear. The Citizens started brightly, with Weldon heading the North Wales side into the lead early on. The game then quietened down, with Bangor content to control the flow of the game, and they took until the 72nd minute to secure the win through a clever Newton finish.

Bangor came into the game on a 6 match unbeaten run in the league, and showed why they are top within 20 minutes. Collum wormed some space on the edge of the box, and slotted the ball past the keeper for 1-0. Neath struck back 10 minutes later, with Morgan beating Searle at close range. After going into the break at evens, City took the lead through Dan Newton, who's close range effort came off the post before crossing the line. Bangor remain top.

However, it was the home side that struck first within 15 minutes through Hill, with a classy finish. Newton pulled the side from Nantporth back into the game with a fantastic 25 yarder. Unfortunately, Lido then shut up shop, resorting to fouls to deny The Citizens, picking up 5 yellows on the night. Bangor head back north with only a point.

It still took until the 52nd minute, when David Morley headed home Stephen Holland's corner for Bangor to take the lead. Five minutes later, Newton was felled in the box, and Singbo stepped up to net his 5th goal of the season, all from the spot. The only black mark on Bangor's sheet was Collum's sending off for a second bookable offence in the 73rd minute.

The league leaders came out fighting, with an early goal from Jake Burrows in the 19th minute. For all their dominance, Bangor went in to the break only 1-0 up. Shortly after the hour, however, Burrows made it 2 with a sweet left foot finish. The convincing result was rounded off with a close finish by Dan Newton.

The league leaders played second place in what had been deemed a close encounter. The game took a good half an hour to get going, with Holland coming close before opening the scoring in the 33rd minute. The teams went in with Bangor holding a narrow lead at the break. However, an extravaganza of scoring erupted with the first 20 minutes of the 2nd half. Firstly, Newton made it 2-0 with a shot from the edge of the box. Then Sean Collum scored a finish from inside the box 2 minutes later for 3-0. Carmarthen pulled back a lifeline straight from the restart, but then the floodgates opened. Newton got his second and Bangor's fourth before Holland matched that feat 5 minutes later. Jake Burrows rounded off the scoring with 25 minutes to play. A message from Bangor to the rest of the league in this game.

After the mauling of Carmarthen, City were looking for another top team's scalp. TNS sat in 3rd, and at first put up a fight expected of them. Jake Burrows broke this resistance in the 17th minute, netting a lob from an excellent team move. Draper equalised for TNS in the 24th minute, but the floodgates opened just before half-time. Burrows netted his and Bangor's second, with Newton adding a third just after. He also scored his second and Bangor's fourth on the brink of the interval. It looked done and dusted, but when Holland was felled in the box in the 92nd minute, Newton stepped up to net his first hattrick, which is the first Bangor hattrick this season.
NEWTOWN 0 - 3 BANGOR CITY

A simple trip to Newtown turned out to be just that; simple. Singbo scored a penalty, his 6th of the season, in the 23rd minute after a Newtown defender was adjudged to have handled the ball. Burrows added his usual goal just after the restart, and when Burrows scores, so does Newton, the Welsh forward netting his 8th goal this month, and 6th in 3 games. This result saw Bangor open up a lead at the top of the table.
BALA 2 - 0 BANGOR CITY

An awful performance from The Citizens. With Carmarthen slipping at TNS the day before, Bangor could stretch their already impressive 5 point lead in the run-up to Christmas. These thoughts were shattered when Bala took the lead just after the half hour. Bangor then spurned multiple chances, before being killed off by Mason's goal in the 83rd minute. A definite upset that was not predicted.

The Welsh forward takes it for the 2nd month running, after scoring 8 goals in 7 games, including a hattrick at The New Saints. Newton's run of form must surely lead eventually to the Wales 1st XI. Between them, Burrows and Newton have become prolific, scoring 31 times between them.

Newton got his second and Bangor's fourth before Holland matched that feat 5 minutes later. Jake Burrows rounded off the scoring with 25 minutes to play. A message from Bangor to the rest of the league in this game.

After the mauling of Carmarthen, City were looking for another top team's scalp. TNS sat in 3rd, and at first put up a fight expected of them. Jake Burrows broke this resistance in the 17th minute, netting a lob from an excellent team move. Draper equalised for TNS in the 24th minute, but the floodgates opened just before half-time. Burrows netted his and Bangor's second, with Newton adding a third just after. He also scored his second and Bangor's fourth on the brink of the interval. It looked done and dusted, but when Holland was felled in the box in the 92nd minute, Newton stepped up to net his first hattrick, which is the first Bangor hattrick this season.

A simple trip to Newtown turned out to be just that; simple. Singbo scored a penalty, his 6th of the season, in the 23rd minute after a Newtown defender was adjudged to have handled the ball. Burrows added his usual goal just after the restart, and when Burrows scores, so does Newton, the Welsh forward netting his 8th goal this month, and 6th in 3 games. This result saw Bangor open up a lead at the top of the table.

An awful performance from The Citizens. With Carmarthen slipping at TNS the day before, Bangor could stretch their already impressive 5 point lead in the run-up to Christmas. These thoughts were shattered when Bala took the lead just after the half hour. Bangor then spurned multiple chances, before being killed off by Mason's goal in the 83rd minute. A definite upset that was not predicted.

The Welsh forward takes it for the 2nd month running, after scoring 8 goals in 7 games, including a hattrick at The New Saints. Newton's run of form must surely lead eventually to the Wales 1st XI. Between them, Burrows and Newton have become prolific, scoring 31 times between them.
