I created this tactic last year and it worked perfectly; won everything i could, had high amounts of possession, without minimal goals being let in, and this year it's the same so i thought it would share it with you guys.

I don't really have time to write a long paragraph about this tactic but i will try to explain the core of it.

My tactic is based on Barcelona in Pep's era, pushing high up the pitch to win the ball back as quick as possible, keeping the ball and not giving it away, with the midfield being key to success.

My formation is essentially a 4-1-1-3-1, and this is what is looks like.

When in possession my the RB will push high up the pitch acting as a winger and my defence will turn into a back 3, a quality RB is key to this tactic. Romero is the anchor man, stays in his position most of the time, wins the ball back and lays it off to other players. Pogba is my main man, the person who makes my team tick, the Xavi of Barcelona. My 3 midfielders are essentially Romero, Pogba and Coutinho, with Reus and Isco acting as more attacking players, and then of course Sturridge is my striker.

This tactic does work and only wont if you try it with a team not capable, you must have the right players, players with good technique, passing, dribbling etc, you know what I mean.

You will get around 60-70% possession, sometimes more. You team has to be used to the formation so i cant say that it will work straight away, like any tactic is will take time. Once you have the right players and your team has gelled you will see the results, solid defence, high pressure, one touch passes, high amount of goals, high possession, high passing stats, especially from the midfielders.

I am in 2016 in my save, and in the second season I won the league with only loosing 2 games.

Anyway, try it out of yourself and let me know what you think because this tactic has worked for me last year and has worked for me this year.

Not to take anything away from your tactic or to say it doesnt work or isn't good. But your team is absolutely world class.

Were you getting the same results in the first season as well?

I am obsessed with Tiki-Taka, i want to have the highest possession possible along with passing stats, and to do this you do need a team that is capable of this style of play.

I came third in my first season, and these are the players i brought in.

The reason I am asking so many questions is because I also love tiki-taka and I am obsessed with possession but I also like my goal scorer to score. Is sturridge getting goals for you?

216 million !!??

Was it over 48 month installments??

Yeah haha.

What i do is buy all the players i want early on but they have to be fairly young otherwise it would be a waste, then later on in the game start focusing on purchasing players around 16/17/18 and put them in the youth team and when they are old/good enough, promote them.

A good amount i'd say, not what Messi would score with this tactic but a good amount for the player they are.

I am starting to play Munir more because he's younger and he fits the role better i feel.

ATM, Munir is top goalscorer in the league.

I cant see your screenshots for Munir.

I tried the tactic for 2 games.

won Sunderland away 4-0 had 67% possession
won Southampton home 1-0. 60% posession. They had a lot of chances

Impressive. Good job. However, the passing stats aren't that impressive. Seem a bit normal. with a tiki taka tactic, they need to be very high. Doesn't seem like your team is doing the amount of passing that normal tiki taka's do. In FM14 a guy put up an amazing strikerless tiki taka tactic. It alone without any tweaks was phenominal. On bad days, possession would be 65-69% and on good days in would be in the 70's. He also had his tactic set at a very low tempo. The only tweak I made was setting it to a high tempo and the amount of passes more than doubled, and possession went up.

I do agree that this isn't the best plug 'n play type of tactic since you need high end players for this tactic to work. High passing rating is a must.

Preferred moves for each player is also key to this tactic.

Here are a few of my players.

I cant get rid of shoots from distance with Pogba so ignore that move, but ones like short simple passes, one-two's, comes deep, tries killer balls, moves into channels are what you want to teach your players

Pogba never seems to be able to have a high pass completion rate, Youri Tielemans seems to do a better job, although he is only 21 so he wont be playing every game, but for the age of the players who are all still very young, loads of 21 and 22 year olds, it is only going to get better.

What do you mean by mentality?

Team shape is narrower and much higher defence line.

Tempo is much lower tempo

By Mentality I mean the old Strategy (contain, counter, control, attack, overload)

By team shape I mean the old fluidity (very rigid, rigid, fluid, very fluid)

Where is that treasure ?
