Barcelona agree deal with PSV star Afellay

Agreed. My word, that's a good deal. Don't know if he'd get near their first team squad though, but looks like top-quality backup. It's a big step up from the Dutch league to La Liga, so I'll reserve my ultimate judgement until later.
 
As a side note, how can Barcelona afford it? They owe over £400m.
 
Seen this before, wasting his career IMO. Will get like no playing time, would've been better going to a team with less competition than Iniesta,Xavi,Mascherano, Busquets and god knows who else.

Still, I don't think clubs should be allowed to buy players while massively in debt.
 
Maybe Barca will loan him to Liverpool for "experience" <)
 
Silly to move there, as said previously there are so many players above him in his position.

Have been following this news for a while now via twitter.

As a Barca fan, of course I'm excited. Seeing from the report and some videos, he has the talent and versatility.

I doubt he will get first-team start though. But still a good buy since we have probably one of the smallest squad in Europe (19 I think?).

And at a bargain price of 3 mills. Pep should really considered playing him and not just as a benchwarmer. Can be used to rotate with Xavi and Iniesta or even Pedro on the wings.

Can't he play on the wing as well so he will fill in whenever Pedro, Messi or Iniesta are unavailable. So he has versatility as well and is probably comfortable playing in the centre. Contract must be up at end of the season due to the low transfer fee.
 
it's a great deal for barca, but PSV should be happy they get anything at. barca could have waited untill summer instead.
 
Great deal seeing the price.

I always thought Barça had no good replacements last years.
Now with people like Adriano, Mascherano and Afellay they have reliable people for the bench.
 
For me this deal has 2 grate sides. First of all we got rid of Affelay in Holland since he's alway full of **** on Ajax, plus he's a good player for PSV so something less to worry about (which is a lot at the moment). Second I love Barcelona and think this is a great deal for them. Could have waited untill the end of the season and get him for free since he is leaving anyway but now they can settle him for half a season, great!

And Sampaman, PSV is probably not happy about that since they agreed to Affelay he would leave end of the season for free. They could have really used him well the rest of the season having to cope with (Twente, not Ajax so much). But since they want to keep Affelay happy (something in return for what Affelay has done) they're letting him go now for just a small bit of money.
 
Luckily it's not Man City or it would be a whole season on the bench. But in Barcelona, I think it's half a season on the bench. :D
