Bedford Town Badge.jpg

Hey Everyone my name is Steven Hedge and i tried starting to do this couple of versions of FM ago with Hemel Hempstead and Cardiff Met Uni but due to work and having a young family time was an issue, but now i am in a new job and the kids are bit older i find myself having more time to play FM, so thought id give it another go.
So this time I'm starting with Bedford Town who are known as The Eagles, they were founded in 1908 and play there home games at The New Eyrie and it has a capacity of 3000.

Bedford Town Stadium.jpg
Reason for picking Bedford is because it was my place of birth and spent a lot of my childhood there and back in FM 2007 i had a really good save with them as they were in the Conference South. So this season they are in Southern League Division 1 Central.
So please join me on this long journey let me know what you think as i will be more than likely asking for help during the way and hope you all enjoy the read.
The next post will be us meeting team, manager and going through the PSF.

Meeting The Team & The Manger:

Here is the manager got nothing but i intend to get my badges and better abilities moving up the league with Bedford.

9EABD24D4A74E289AFC4E577C1CF1B451A310913

So here we have our team that is going start our journey with, haven't got a lot of defenders so i think ill be spending most of Pre-Season looking out for the defence, but overall am pleased with the team.
KEY PLAYERS
477F89BD7C3BD96D2C6802E84C9C1EFF626DE13A

The first one is Alex Street who last season was at Kings Lynn, so that's good to have a decent keeper and hopefully we wont have to worry about this position for a few seasons unless he gets pinched from right under our noses as im sure your all aware happens very often and always at the wrong time.
64751BFE1B57B6B520EBF68CC441C85B732EC68D

Next up is Rob Sinclair who was playing at Hemel Hempstead and was a big part of my save in the Hemel attempt, but he is by far the best midfielder in the league and will be looking for him to be an assist king and pop up with a few goals.
83764E84A97E3B0A9E2EA6159BE64C9DF4E85FA5

Last and by no means least is Craig Mackail-Smith, one of the main reasons why i wanted to do a Bedford save just look at him, ok i know his age isn't ideally but for a couple seasons he should be scoring for fun and hopefully make us move up the leagues quickly given he stays injury free.

Well there we go we have meet the team and highlighted the Key Players for the upcoming season, the next post will be my transfers i do and my Pre Season Friendlies, was going to stick it in one post but realised that would be a very long post, so will try and get the next one out today at some point.

PRE-SEASON FRIEDNLIES AND TRANSFERS

96B4A17B0104F156AF4F53DECDE51171182247CF

As you can see didn't have the worse pre season scored a lot of goals and only one defeat to our under 23s which defiantly showed me that we were crying out for defensive reinforcements.

TRANSFERS:
As you know its a nightmare sometimes to pick up players when this low down, I had so many players on trial and fingers crossed the team we have put together here now is good enough to us out of this league first season, as that is what the board want.
BA064D6861C4D29198D0AE97009D7EF4AF7FDE0B

So our first signing was Dylan Meredith, now i didn't go out looking for attacking players but when he came across from one of my scouts he was just too good to turn down and reckon he will be a massive player for us this season and hopefully many seasons to come.

B2A10B879AA578BF0C16324F2420FBB03452F953

Our 2nd signing is Billy Lobjoit who i nicked from Crawley Green, thinking with the players we have and CMS (Craig Mackail-Smith) being on the older side then rotation is going to be key and he looks like just a good soild player who will do decent job for us when called upon.
92E5E3FAE14FD9956A8556BCEF109EE1D65E6DE5

Here is one of the lads who i had on trial and really impressed during the friendlies and i reckon his youth with CMS experience will be a good match to have up top and hopefully they can form a deadly partnership and once again another player who i hope will be with us for many seasons.
ADDF3EC3C3A4D7621F281C1B1A549B6851555FED

Next up finally a defender, nothing fancy with him just adds experience and just looks solid for at least this season. Which i will say now most of our defenders are just hopefully for this season as either the decent ones for our level wasn't interested or wanted way to much money.
7ED7B0CA3098ACA8E304730AD9181CDE6C9E843E

Welcome James Kay who is basically exactly the same as the last defender just a solid player who adds experience.
59812C8B3B8D847D52880E9CD08B6841B6F4F354

Next up welcome James Cooper here to add cover and reckon regardless what my coachs say will do a good job for us.
ACE9291C7728D71FC555E9B0FCAF5F594B12B11E

Next we have to probably the most important defender we signed as he can play across any position at the back and that player is Rhys Thompson, who i reckon we may lean on this season.
5054C99F11080DA45B4AB3C1A44A71ECD7670326

With our full backs bit older and many games we play i thought we would need depth that position so that is why Ollie Debham was brought
in.

2D888807CBD12BCD2232FC1CA37A3402CF7065CC

Now i believe this to be our main CB this season Kieran Finglas, got very good attributes in the area you need for a CB and hopefully due to game time we will give him this season he will improve and once again be with us for a few seasons.

Well there it is, took me a little while to get there for a squad but i reckon we are a good position to start with and as you know can make transfers all season so ill be on the look out and not 100& happy with my defence yet and i am also in for CM who i believe will be a great player to partner Sinclair in the middle of the park, so fingers crossed he signs and i can show you him next update. So is there any signings there who you think is a good signing? Or any where you think ive made a mistake?
The next update will be our first month of the season.

AUGUST 2020
So here we go start our journey will we start off the best way, will the team settle and gel quickly? Lets find out, also there is a couple of new transfers as like ive stated that i will always be on the look out for new players mainly defenders.

1244C99B3DD2E89168579941013F922A94222F84

Southern League Division One Central VS St. Neots. According to the season preview this was 1st vs 2nd, so a chance for us to lay down a marker early, so to drew 2-2 after going 1-0 down and having a goal ruled out for offside isn't the worst result and defiantly some postives to take forward and also a bounous when your new attacking players are on the scoresheet.
7B38F9B34107680D774C6284EA412D88DE7A001E

The CM i mentioned last post, according to my coaches they dont reckon to much but i reckon he will be a good player for us and with his passing could find them killer passes for us.
09FAD6441655657954F8218BDD3C676EE4464DE7

Southern League Division One Central VS Bedworth, here we showed why we are favourites to go up, played really well and scored some really good goals also Lobjoit got on the scoresheet for the 2nd game running and our front 2 both on the score sheet start of the deadly duo? NOPE as the formation is going to change and then Ramirez comes off the bench and scores on his debut.
2397BC6BB9DBA98BCAAC4049338D8EBE8BEFF9EA

Southern League Division One Central VS Thame, first defeat didn't deserve to lose but didn't deserve to win, just a bore game to be honest, but honestly didnt expect to lose this early in the season, perhaps its not going to be a walk in the park for the league this season?
E988457BEC3DA0F7CFE06443D1890AD327B71835

Southern League Division One Central VS Corby, after our defeat last game we had to bounce back and we did just wasnt at our best but managed to get the win mainly thanks to Alex Street who played out of his skin and thanks to CMS and Walker scoring for us. what it is everyone saids?? All the best team know how to get the result even when there playing badly??
0FA29A7338C90CF1F4249B59EAE30862306A82E9

Southern League Division One Central VS Barton Rovers, so we were so poor was hoping to build on the last performance and show us as a force in the league but nope we just didn't show up, so thats why after this game we changed to a 4231 and it showed me again how we are so poor at the back
.
9E53E86ED9FBA422EEE760F0FA7D5253827A7619

So after that Barton game i was so annoyed i went looking for defenders and finally managed to get a decent LB in Josh Stachini, who looks a very capable LB so at least that is 1 out of the 4 done now expect more over the coming posts.

LEAGUE TABLE:
A1E4CBB95870FAE5F6ABB8A52DEC84D932573DA5

Well to be honest i was expecting to be in the top 2 early on so to be 11th and lost twice already is no where good enough so hopefully next month we have better month and start pushing ourselves up the league.

PLAYER OF THE MONTH
Its got to be Alex street our GK who i knew would be important for us but he's been outstanding bearing in mind we have lost 2 games, so just shows our important he is to us but also not happy with how much he is being worked, but hopefully with change of formation and some good defenders means he less worked.

SEPTEMBER 2020

Here we go can we start showing good we are as a team? There is also another new signing, and so many changes of formations i cant keep up or no what im doing.
F8AA321A932CBE83E6D504B5B7992449259407B1

Southern League Division One Central VS Daventry, So here we tried the 4231 and it seemed to work, winning 1-0 thanks to a Lobjoit pen, but we could have scored a few more, but some positives to take into the next game.

74CDD7CBB783428F7B75F8C288BD11615EA49B49

Southern League Division One Central VS Kidlington, well what a way come down back to earth we started with the 4231 but could not create nothing and going 1 down in the 1st min isn't ideal at all but when we drew thanks to CMS just thought we would go on and win but nope we just didn't turn up at all. Very frustrated with the team at the moment.
90FE39E9541626D01505ADF71F02313647BECDAF

Welcome Ben Harriott, who is heads and shoulders above the rest of our CBs and will shore us up defiantly at the back and one to be with us for next few years we hope.
CF2C5BEA5B0251D4DB8A6E7F0F29EBEA48D0BEFA

Southern League Division One Central VS Kempston, worse performance from the team yet and we have had some really ***** ones just no good from the game, part from Harriott came on for his debut and we didn't concede and he got the highest rating in our team, every sliver lining and all that.
6A321BA7B59A71998BFF6BDE0ECD2E96E94F06D0

FA Cup Preliminary Round VS Cirencester, didn't want to go through anyways???? Not a lot to say really we were poor and at this point i was pulling my hair out as i know we are so much better than we are showing. OOOHHHHH and did i say they are a league below us!!!!
090B30F36EDBCB6AF0EA5CDF7B0C651112EA968C

Southern League Division One Central VS Halesowen, so coming into this game they were 2nd and i was expecting the worse and spent ages of thinking what to do so changed to a 433 to give Sinclair room to run the show for us and to be honest we deserved to win given they only had 1 shot on target but we controlled the play and just need to finish our chances but hopefully we have found a formation and tactic we can use and the team will get use to it and we will see that in the results.
488FD25105D8F297AF809BB90A51AA8758B9CB48

Southern League Division One Central VS North Leigh, so last game 2nd in the league and this game 3rd in the league and with the formation we didn't lose and once again deserved to win but we kept a clean sheet so least that is a start
.

LEAGUE TABLE:
16998095D8FF42F41000F467A505C4BB07675D5B

Just going to say it now, i am not happy with where we are but the last 2 games of the month more than likely the most difficult ones we didn't lose and should have won, but the plus its still early in the season and hopefully next month we can get moving up the table.

PLAYER OF THE MONTH:
Its difficult to chose someone given how bad we have been but one player who did well was the new lad Ben Harriott who made us look more solid when he came in the side, hope he carries on how he's started his career with us.

So lets hope next month is a better month, any suggestions or ideas then please say as like i say at one point i was losing the will, but hope your enjoying the read.
