Best midfield pair roles.

well it really depends on what players you have but from my pers experience i tend to say:
Deep lying playmaker with ball winning midfielder or a adv plm with bwm
pretty much a destroyer and a playmaker you need someone to get the ball back and someone to deliver quality passes also in my arsenal save i used wilshere box to box and song bwm and wilshere was my best player but i dont usually use btb.

Its not really a pair but i currently dont have any effective wingers, so im currently playing 4-3-1-2 with 3 central midfielders.
Mc is operating as a defensive mid with defend
mcr is deep-lying playmaker with support (obv)
mcl is box-to-box
Its working really well, i dont get a lot of goals from midfield but i play narrow through the middle and have a technically gifted striker at the amc position, playing short passes, and my strike force tend to pass around in a triangle before shooting. working well, averaging 3.2 goals a game
