Hi all,

I have started my obligatory Manchester city save on the beta. One thing I have never really paid attention to before is the coaching staff. My question is, is it better to have coaches who are 19-20 in one specific area or should I be looking at coaches who are more well rounded and have many attributes over say 15-16?

I am unsure how I should be setting up my staff searches to look for the best fits

Personally, I believe it depends on the size of the club. At a club like Man City then I believe you should be looking for coaches that can specialise in 1 area. You should have enough staff to have a specialist coach in each area and then some other staff that can coach in a range of areas so that the workload isn't too high.

As bcgc1 says, there isn't much reason for generalist coaches at a bigger club where you have a lot of coaches. Don't forget that the coaching attribute alone doesn't make them a great coach. the DDM is also a factor - Determination, Discipline, and Motivating.

I assume the workload still works the same in FM19, but one 'expert' or 5* coach per training category - DDMs are so important as well - then any old general dogsbody to reduce the workload as staffing levels permit. The secondary coach doesn't impact anything other than coaches workload so the training attributes don't really come into it.

One save I had,m, I filled each training category with a decent coach, but had one other working across ALL categories to reduce workload a bit.
