Mathew Plant was made Birmingham City manager today, just before the pre-season friendlies start of the 09-10 season. Blue's boss Plant had this to say, "apart from Aston Villa, all other Midland clubs suffer from yo-yo'ing between the top two leagues, i hope to change all this." A bold statement indeed, unlike other managers, Plant believes that he can help Birmingham remain in the Premiership, but played down talks about European Competitions.
Plant claims that the club is already solid enough to survive relegation, although he hopes to bring in one more Forward.
The friendlies are going to be handled by my assistant.

The opening day of the season, Birmingham are about to face Portsmouth - but this post is about the transfers.
Manager Plant has decided to only make 2 signings so far in this window. Daniel Opare, who is only 18 years old has signed and granted a work permit and was signed for £170,000 from Real Madrid. Elsewhere Matias Defederico at only 19 years of age looks likely to have a promising future and has been greated warmly by Blue's fans. I will player profile him soon...
