Bizarre, Unconventional Computer Tactical Choices

I'll try to post a screen shot later (PS is on my other comp) but I wanted to ask if anyone else encountered weird computer tactics.

In my current save I noticed that Liverpool had traded for Christopher Samba and are playing him as a Striker!?! While he has only scored 1 goal in 33 starts for Liverpool, they are 18-6-1 and in 3rd place so it seems to be working in some way.

How common is something odd like this?

In the 08-09 season, Sam allardyce played him as a line striker when they were losing 1-0 to spurs, they ended up winning 2-1! He played him there for a few games after!
