Ive seen a few music threads up and was just wondering if anyone else likes this genre of music.

It's ****.

If I wanted to here someone choking I would watch pr0n

Not the best genre, but it's a **** of a lot better than the **** that's played on the radio nowadays (Florence/La Roux/Beyonce etc). Best black metal bands: Emperor; Burzum; Gorgoroth; Cradle of Filth

Cradle of Filth arent black metal, they use to be my fave band so im a bit of a expert lol
Their early stuff was closet to BM but never actually were

I'd say they are, but they're probably more symphonic black metal, but considering they're English, they're not going to be as extreme as the black metal bands from Scandinavia, hence the different sound.

Frankly, I can't stand the stuff. Nor could I tell the difference between black metal, white metal, speed metal or any other kind of non-metallic metal. But, if you like it, right on man.

Can't stand Black metal or metal in general?

Closet to black metal was prob first album, but Dusk... and Cruelty are considered BM/SBM

There are differences, suppose you have just got to be real into it to tell what they are

What sort of artists are you refering to ?

Like Children of Bodom, Inflames etc?

No, don't like any type of metal and black metal sounds even worse.

I'm more into Power metal as well as Symphonic metal. Some of my favs are Stratovarius, Nightwish, Sonata Arctica, Dragonforce, Edguy, Within Temptation, Epica and many more...

CoB are awesome :D
Not particularly keen on black metal, my favourite of that genre is probably Mayhem. But I'm more into stuff like Iron Maiden, etc.

Tbh, I think Power metal's overrated. Musically, it's good but they do sound too similar to eachother. Dragonforce are way overrated as well.

I'm more into 'metalcore' music, I suppose, bands like Parkway Drive, Devil Wears Prada etc.

I disagree 100%

Sonata Arctica are one of the most unique sounds I have heard. Stratovarius too, can you tell me who sound like them?

Gamma Ray, Helloween,Angra, Edguy & Epica etc etc

they all sound completely different and have there own range.

Going back to Sonata, each album is unique to the last, check out Winterhearts Guild then Unia and notise the contrast.

I like Black Metal. Im more of a death metal fan (Black Dahlia Murder, Necrophagist, Death, Misery Index, Bleed From Within to name but a few of my favourites), but i do like a bit of BM from time to time.

Emperor probably top the list of BM bands in terms of "most well known", it is epic stuff, and I listen to it occasionally. For me though, without a doubt, the best BM band of all time are Enslaved. The album "Isa" is the best thing ever to emerge from the BM scene. Amazing.

Not a fan of Black Metal at all. Power Metal on the other hand, very good. In fact, someone should make a thread.
