Sheffield United have appointed former player, Brian Deane as manager!

Deane joins the Blades after finishing his only spell in football management with Sarsporg in the Norwegian Premeer division where Deane guided them to mid-table finish and cup semi final in his final season in charge.

Deane joins the Blades for a fourth time after two stints as player. His first, as most successful, stint came between 1988 and 1993. During this spell, Deane scored an impressive 83 goals in 198 games. He struck a very impressive partnership with fellow forward Tony Agana before a controversial move to rivals, Leeds United for a then record £2.9 million.

He then moved back to Bramall Lane for the 1997-1998 season where he scored 11 in 24 games, he was then transferred to Benfica. His final stint at Bramall Lane came in the 2005/2006 season where he only managed 2 appearances and failed to score.

Despite this final stint at the club, Deane is held as a legend at the club and this news had been met with delight with the majority of fans. Although there is concern about how he'll cope with so little managerial experience.
