Pre-season Update

Throughout pre-season the squad have been on the Tug's training program an every player was getting game time during the friendlies. We played 8 friendlies in total winning all 8 games. Although we didn't play any serious outfits we could only beat what was but in front of us. The clubs assistant manager Eddie Newton took charge of all the friendly matches.

Two Players Leave The Hawthorns

Today West Bromwich Albion have confirmed that Filipe Teixeira and Chris wood have left the Hawthorns.

Filipe Teixeira has been sold to Southampton for 750k and Chris Wood has joined Premier League Chelsea on a season long loan for 500k.

West Brom's Manager has given us this statement

I am disappointed to lose a player of Filipe's standard but i had made it clear to him that he would be a rotation player this year and given his desire to play every game he wanted to look for a new club and we didn't stand in his way. Chris has joined up with Chelsea for a year as he wont play much with us this season due to his age and we feel that at Chelsea he will get great training and it will improve him significantly. Chelsea also have been given the first option on Chris if we should ever intend on selling him.

West Brom Get Their Striker

After weeks of trying to get a striker West Brom have also confirmed the signing of Yannick Djalo from Sp Lisbon. Yannick joins the baggies for a fee believed to be around 800k and has signed a 3 year deal. There was a lot of competition for Yannick's signature but the West Brom boss has managed to persuade him to join the Baggies ahead of clubs like Bolton, PSG, Benfica and Ajax.

Yannick Statement

I am the happiest man in the world right now. I have always wanted to play in England and although I had other offers from Premier League clubs after speaking to the manager here there was only one place I was going. The manager has big plans for the club and I wanted to be apart of them.

West Brom's new signing

West Brom's statement

We are happy we have managed to get our man! We have been chasing Djalo since the window opened and at times we thought we had been beaten in the race to get his signature but we stuck at it and we believe we have got a real star player on our hands and am sure the WBA fans will agree when they see him play. So far we our very happy with our transfer activity but we have not finished yet and still hope to get another new face which we our currently working on.

Chris Wood is really solid for me, hope you wont regret this :P

A great win against league favourites Newcastle. We had to show great character to come from behind and we also passed Newcastle of the park in the second half. More of the same please :D

West Brom 2 Dag & Red 0 - Moore (4) Sergi (pen28)

A completely new starting 11 that lined out against Newcastle and you would not have noticed the difference as we played great again. Young Sergi showed up really well and the 16 year old looks to have a bright future in the game.
we are pleased to have progressed to round 2.

A very even game in which we did not deserve to lose. However we will take the positives from the game and move on. Meite was a rock at the back today and was rewarded with MOM.

A great away performance and the perfect way to respond to our defeat last time out. In truth we never looked like losing this game and dominated from start to finish.

In fairness we where second best in this game right up until Healy got sent off just after his goal. we played really poorly and had Healy stayed on the field I did not see Ipswich losing the game. However we our delighted with another 3 points :D

West Brom Sign Coventry Star

West Brom have today completed the signing of Coventry Midfielder Aron Gunnarsson for a fee believed to be around 2.1 million. Gunnarsson is only 20 and has already has 15 international caps for Iceland.

West Brom's Statement

We are very pleased indeed to have secured such a good player that can play as a holding or and attacking midfielder. Again we had to fend of some big names including AC Milan to get his signature and am sure Aron will be a big success for the club. I can officially confirm there will be no more new faces coming to the Hawthorns now.

A great game in which the West Brom big boys had to come of the bench to win against a very dogged Millwall side.

*** has been superb this month scoring some very good goals that have won us matches. He is playing that good that Djalo cant even get on the team.

A Managers View

A good solid first month for the club with only the one defeat. We also managed to record a win against Newcastle and are in the Hat for the 3rd round of the FA cup. The new players are starting to fit in now and there is a great squad harmony.

Will have the next months update tomorrow for any followers :D
