5th July 2011: Owen Coyle leaves Bolton due to personal issues and decides to take some time out. The Bolton Board issue a statement just hours later that they are looking to replace him quickly with a Bolton hero so pre season can go smoothly.

6th July 2011: Chris Lovell, spent two seasons on loan at Bolton 7 years ago when they got promoted to the top division between the sticks with 31 clean sheets to his name in a Bolton shirt, had recently retired from Football after 6 years with LA Galaxy was looking for a managerial job and was one of the first to apply.

7th of July 2011: Bolton reveal Chris Lovell as their new manager who vows to take the club onwards

With no money and a below average team Chris had to find the winning tactic and the bargain buys...

But could he do it in the 6 weeks of pre-season left???

Through out the 6 weeks Chris' Assistant was given managerial experience by controlling friendlies which also gave Chris more time to try and build a great squad, was it possible?

Only days into the Job and the offers were coming in for his unwanted players:
Robbie Blake, £275k to Derby
Ricardo Gardner, £1.2m to Aston Villa
Sean Davis, £1.1m to Southampton
Ivan Klasnic, £2.5m to PSG
Sam Ricketts, £1.2m to Norwich
Totalling up well which gave him a nice 4.5 million budget after deductions.

His next job was to find who to sign, No free players interested him and Loan offers for players were laughed off his task was to buy small.

Offers for Carlo Fierro, Andile Jeli & Ruben Yttergard Jenssen had all broken down and the time was going away fast which many targets being snapped up but still he was able to get his main target Wilfried. At £3m it was a fair bit but was exactly what he was looking for. The rest of the budget was to be saved for January.

Days before the big kick-off his team was now up and running, just how he wanted it:
GK: Jussi Jaaskelainen
DR: Gretar Steinsson
DCR: Gary Cahill
DCL: David Wheater
DL: Paul Robinson
DMC: Fabrice Muamba
MCR: Stuart Holden
MCL: Nigel Reo-Coker
AMR: Chris Eagles
AML Martin Petrov
STC: Wilfried
SB1: Adam Bogdan
SB2: Marcos Alonso
SB3: Dedryck Boyata
SB4: Zat Knight
SB5: Darren Pratley
SB6: Mark Davies
SB7: David N'Gog

For the season this was Chris' Starting eleven, but would it do the job against a energetic Norwich Team???
