What a week. Only 57, terrible way to go.

R.I.P

RIP to him, but it was somewhat predictable with the repetitive hospitalizations :S

I'm just hoping there's no more stories like this for remainder of year. Been a terrible week.

Corinthians have one of the biggest games in their history today as well against Palmeiras, they win and the Brazilian title is theirs.

A huge occasion that you would hope will be dedicated to Socrates despite the bad blood between Palmeiras and Corinthians.

He defined the modern playmaker role, tried to make a change politically in his country, an avid football writer during the Copa America and a fantastic ambassador for both Brazil and football.

Thought I'd list some tributes made today by Fiorentina/Brazil Football Federation, all games today in Brazil were preceded with a minutes silence and Fiorentina wore black armbands along with a minute's silence before the game against Roma.

For the second time in 7 days we are saying goodbye to a fantastic player and more importantly a fantastic human being. Immensely sad week for football.

Dr Socrates -''It's not just about the game itself. Before anything, football is a psychological battle, the human aspect plays a significant role.''

A visionary coach who was biding his time to get a break in Europe when he recovered, also for English fans it's worth remembering he played and coached Garforth Town for a brief spell. You don't get many characters like that any more in football.

There is a myth that hasn't been disproved, that he played in the UCD Reserves and my team shelbourne for a few weeks while he was studying to be a doctor in Ireland.

R.i.p the great [philosopher and] footballer Socrates. he was battling his life yesterday. sad to know he lost the fight ;(

Seems there's been too many losing the fight.

Corinthians win the title today and its a tribute to Socrates
