The Metro understands Blackburn Manager Sam Allardyce has been forced to resign as manager due to unforseen circumstances.

As a result, Kieran Farley (Current Blackburn first team coach) has been appointed as an interim manager until a new one can be appointed.

"Unfortunately Sam has been forced to resign and no reason has been given as of yet for his departure". Farley claimed.

Farley will take control of the club's pre-season club tour of the smaller counties as Blackburn look to get their squad fit for the 2009/2010 campaign.

Blackburn Rovers have appointed interim manager Kieran Farley on a three-year deal. The club, who The Metro understands recently sacked former boss Sam Allardyce as a result of an ongoing feud over the transfer budget, decided to act quickly to appoint his replacement.

At a news conference earlier today, Farley pointed out that he and Sam bare no grudges and he was totally focused on leading the club to success.

"I'm delighted to have been appointed manager of such a prestigious club. It's history shows this club has the pedigree and reputation to go far, and in my opinion with the help of the board, coaching staff, players and most importantly the fans we can achieve success." Farley stated.

Rumours persist that Farley will have just around £500,000 to spend and his deals will mostly be based on what he can manage to obtain for some players he could consider 'deadwood'.

"I will definitely be reviewing along with my assistant Neil MacDonald the entire coaching and playing staff, to see how we can improve Blackburn Rovers football club".

The Metro's football correspondent James Duncan believes Farley can be extremely instrumental, and achieve huge success at Blackburn, as he is extremely respected amongst his peers.

It will definitely be interesting to see how things with the 30 year develop, in these coming weeks and in fact, throughout the new season.

The Metro understands Blackburn Rovers have had a bid for Rangers defender Danny Wilson turned down. The bid, thought to be in the region of £1 million plus add-ons was swiftly declined as the club are not looking to sell.

Wilson who has previously attracted interest from several clubs including Liverpool and Arsenal, has been tipped to become a quality player by pundits and time will tell if Rovers will return with an improved bid.

Blackburn Rovers have today announced the loan signing of Rangers forward John Fleck.

The 17 year old is expected to join up with the first team squad on Tuesday morning.

Rangers had been looking to loan out the striker, who can also play on the left side of midfield due to having other options ahead of him.

"John is an extremely versatile player, and can come into games and have a massive impact. We've signed him to cover for Morten-Gamst and El Hadji, and to also give the squad abit of depth upfront too." Farley said.

Following on from Blackburn Rovers' pre-season success, manager Kieran Farley has Vince Grella, Pascal Chimbonda and Brett Emerton unavailable for selection ahead of their away game to Aston Villa.

Captain Ryan Nelsen and midfielders Steven Reid and David Dunn are doubts whilst loan signing John Fleck looks set to start on the bench.

11 minutes: Aston Villa took the lead when England striker Gabriel Agbonlahor hit a fantastic strike.

26 minutes: Blackburn equalise with a fine header from Gael Givet.

31 minutes: Nikola Kalinic hits a sweet strike as Blackburn take a surprise lead.

72 minutes: On-loan striker Franco Di Santo completes a fine win for Blackburn with a well placed shot low to Friedel's left.

"The team performed exceptionally well and deserved the win. We were great at the back and the players wore their hearts on their sleeves. It's the kind of performance which should set a precedent for the season, if we play like that every game we'll do well." Farley boasted.



 
It can take quite a while to fix these games together like I have, so I'm going to try a different method and report once in a while on results.

Chelsea 2 - 0 Blackburn Rovers - Sunday 23rd August
After my successful victory over Aston Villa away from home, I came back to Ewood feeling confident. Myself and the coaching staff had praised the players and decided to give them a day off.

We went back to the drawing board and think we should try and keep the same nucleus of the team for the Chelsea game. We knew it would be tough but told the players just before the match to go out there, and keep doing what they're doing.

The match ended with the Blues winning comfortably 2-0. I was unhappy my side didn't really test the weaknesses of the London side, but told them to keep their heads up.

On the way back home I knew we had a game on Wednesday against Morecambe in the League Cup. We had various players who were being used on a rotation basis, even this early, and I knew we could afford to play them against a weak side like Morecambe.

Blackburn Rovers 3 - 1 Morecambe - League Cup - Wednesday 26th August 2009

I decided to give Steven Reid a chance to come in and gain some match fitness. He rewarded me by scoring during the game and I was impressed with his performance.

Franco Di Santo gave a solid performance too, grabbing a brace. Although I was concerned at a late consolation we conceded.

I told the players that I'd need to see an improvement in their level of performance if we were to beat our next visitors.... Arsenal.

Blackburn Rovers 2 - 4 Arsenal - Saturday 29th August 2009

The first half really, really dissappointed me. We were 4-0 down by half-time due to slick movement and passing from a top side, and it was beginning to show that maybe our team isn't as great as I thought it could be.

The second half was much better, and we managed to score 2 to put the pressure on the Gunners.

Unfortunately it wasn't enough, and it was our heaviest defeat so far.

Up next was the visit of Everton. I was speaking to Neil MacDonald(assistant) and he agreed we'd need to counter Everton's play, as they like to try and keep the ball just like Arsenal.

I believed we have the squad to beat the Bluenoses.... I was wrong.

Blackburn Rovers 0 - 1 Everton - Wednesday 2nd September

Dissappointing result at home here. We offered nothing going forward and we deserved to concede the late winner by James Vaughan.

I knew things were bad, but we've got City away next..... Things were about to get much worse.

Manchester City 5 - 1 Blackburn Rovers - Saturday 12th September

Horror show, simply how I described it to the media. The players were all over the place and it wasn't good enough.

I'll be making wholesale changes and will be considering a different approach to my next fixture.
