With the latest news from Liverpool being that of sacking BR, what do people here think of the same?
I mean he took us to an awesome 2nd place finish, but imho it was more to the individual brilliance of Suarez rather than BR's master mind! Also, when Henderson was suspended for the 3 games towards the end, with us being so close to the title, it probably showed Brendan's weakness.. He couldn't motivate us enough to go for the kill..
His experimenting and tweaking over the last year and half has left the team in a limbo, bereft of confidence, no killer instinct, no identity!
He bought potential last season, only to not trust them with game time! Markovic anyone?
In 3 years he has failed to turn Mignolet into anything other than a spectacular shot stopper.. No confidence, no command of area..
Coming to the defense side of the team.. where does it even start! A set piece against Liverpool would probably be the easiest to score.. Our defense has been a joke more often than not! Getting rid of Carra and Agger, the treatment of Agger, Skrtel, Sakho at times, the curious case of Dejan Lovren, it just doesn't end!
The best teams have always had a leader at the back- Maldini, Nesta, Terry, Rio, Vidic, Campbell, Cannavaro, Lucio, Cafu, Lahm, Puyol, Ramos..
It goes to show you need to have a solid defense primarily, as generally, the team that concedes the least is more likely to be champions! Teams who have scored the max goals have not won titles as much as the team that concedes the least!
Joe Allen.. vs Jonjo Shelvey!!
A very good player at Swansea and a young prospect at Liverpool sort of swapped clubs after BR came in.. Allen was among the best players at Swansea under BR, and Shelvey had a lot to prove and needed time and patience.. Today, as things stand, Shelvey is among the most confident half backs in the country, and Allen?!!
Treatment of players (Henderson, Gerrard, Lucas), a lack lustre midfield for over a year and half, lack of creativity and so on..
Barring Coutinho's performances, the attacking players barely contributed last season. ..
Ibe! Seriously, right back, right wing back, left wing back! He's just a proper winger FFS!
Same goes with Can, Sterling, Markovic.. BR failed with his experiments, and as much as I like his optimism, he failed to see clearly what he was doing!
Winning formula, right tactics, right positions for players, etc etc etc.. BR missed the basics in 3+ years here..
I have been his fan, the man seems a nice fellow, but when you don't turn your team up for Man Utd and Everton games, 20 points from last 17 games, lose 6-1 to Stoke among other result.. is record away from home at the top four plus Everton reads as follows: Played 18, Won 1, Drawn 9, Lost 8, For 21, Against 33. Simply not good enough!!
Liverpool fans deserved better than last season.. spending all that money, and not even getting the team to challenge for the top 4, let alone the title, and then again this year, 12 points from 8 games.. unacceptable!
It should be interesting to see who comes at Liverpool now.. Klopp seems like match made in heaven! And I honestly hope he comes, brings back Markovic from his loan at Turkey(!), plays players in their correct positions, sort out the leaky defense, play Can in midfield, and that's it!
Liverpool need a breath of fresh air, it is time now to sort things out..
