Played ur tactic with some tiny changes for the last two seasons in the premiership with Brentford, currently 6th in the league although a few more matches played than a few behind me but just one the league cup with a team just consisting of youngsters and the odd 25 year old so thumbs up to this strat.

I used this tactics on zenit st. . That resulets weren't good first but after some matches it became good. It is good tacticts and thanks for it

I've been using this tactic, with a few tweaks, and it worked amazingly for about a season. I was struggling in mid table then used this tactic and finished 3rd.

However, the tactic has stopped working. Teams have figured it out I guess and it just doesn't work anymore.

So I've had to start using a different tactic (made my own) which has got me winning games again.
However, I love this clough tactic and would rather go back to playing the lovely football that it produces. has anyone found any ways to alter the tactics so you keep playing the same football but the opposition doesn't figure it out so well?

Was it because teams had found out how you play or did you buy a few new players? New players can take a while to fit in to your system and results will suffer because of it.

A bit of both I think. Basically I started the game (with Villa) and in my first season I made my own tactic, worked fairly well, finished 6th. Then started my second season with the same tactic and it started to get **** results.

So I came on here and downloaded your tactic which worked amazingly. But for the last 10 games of the season (so with the same players) it seemed to be losing it's effectiveness. Maybe just because players were a bit tired?

Then I started my third season and the tactic just didn't work. I did have new players in but I mean I was 19th after 9 games. So that's when I made a new tactic and started winning again.

Maybe you're right and it's just the new players combined with tiredness at the end of the second season, but the impression I got was that it had just gone a bit stale.

I must add that when it was working it was an unbelievable tactic. I was winning with style every game!

Try using different variants for games, defensive, standard etc and see if that works.

Cheers. I've experimented with that. I found going into overload helped, but it also left me wide open at the back so against the better teams it would set me up for a beating. Also, I tried experimenting with roles like making th ewingers attacking etc.
But nothing has got me to the heights of when I first used the tactic.

I guess it's just a case of experimenting until I find something that works.

Cheers

Hi JP,

I downloaded this tactic and have been using it with Newcastle. After a slow start I was having my doubts (even though you said it would take time to bed in) but it was only after about 15 games in that I realize that I may have drawn quite a few but I hadn't actually been beaten.

It took until the 26th game of the season for Reading to beat us. I feel with better players this tactic would be unstoppable so at present I'm signing potential 4 star players on the cheap in preparation for a return the EPL.

Come on the toon!

Thanks again.

Well, If your not losing it cant be bad at all, anyone would rather draw then lose, so yeah some good signings would be good, maybe a striker who can get you the goals to win the games and some defenders who will get the clean sheets

I got that ebi smolarek. he's not scoring a massive amount but he's playing well as the complete forward and as a result Ameobi cannot stop scoring. Never thought I'd say that.

To the previous poster:
Yeah they're really solid. I suspect they'd work with any team too.

The reason for this is the combination of slow tempo and no time wasting. Poor players aren't rushed into making a pass but the zero time wasting makes them pass quickly if it's open.

In lower leagues I'd just do what I've always done, focus on getting your fitness coaches in so you have a pace/fitness advantage in the league and in relation to this tactic it will also mean they won't beat your offside trap.

That said I've not tested this in the lower league. JP would have to confirm if it would work.

iv been on the verge of throwing my laptop out the window lately tyring to find a winning tactic. I've been trying to discover it on a save where the match i play is against wigan away (I'm newly promoted Hartlepool United) Tried the clough tactics at the start of my first season with fantastic results, unfortunaly the performances dropped dramtically and I made my own tactic, which I managed to win the johnstones paint trophy and finish 2nd in the league. I just tried the clough tactics again. and baring in mind I hadn't even managed a draw with wigan yet didnt expect too much, ******* won 3 - 0 !!! ha pure buzzin thank you JP!!!! I altered the defensive line to be dramatically deeper btw

If I understand you correctly then you're a save game that you're testing your tactics on, one game only?

If you are then you can't possibly be giving the tactic the time it deserves. A tactic (depending on it's complexity and the intelligence of your players) will require about 1/2 a season to bed in realistically.

It would also explain your frustration. Impatience. I'm not having a go, I'm saying I'm the same way. If you want to win games then give your tactic a chance.

if its dramatically different formation i give it like 10-12 games, like JP Woodys counter attacking one. but my players are all gelled and the majority have played this one before, and they'v played 4-4-2 pretty much since I started with them. And I read that someone on the SI forum has said the team dont need to get used to a new formation, but I don't really know about that oO)

also Its got them back to winning ways :)

hello,

for my 1st thread, replay on this site ( really great site btw , thx for all da job guys), my first post if for ya JP woody.

I play with 2 friends, Was rly in trouble with my favourite team : AS Roma.

Without a great totti , i was thinking i was just a ******* dumbass coach.

I try everything, 4 3 3 , attack defensive conter,

4 2 3 1, etc etc, but nothing at all gimme result, or if i get result , I don't have the feeling.

With your tactic, it's just a miracle.

Tha fact is: win 12, draw 0 , lose 1 ( vs inter and eto'o was in a great day)

Verratti, macheda, derossi play their best football since .. i buy fm 2010
and sakho, mexes with your tactic, it's just ....amasing
So for all of this, i just say too you /

THANK YOU and amen.

( sry for my bad *** english , will try in french if you want):)

Heh, it is a good tactic and the better the technique of your side the better you team will play. Roma should be a technically strong side so they should have a lot of possesion and create a lot of chances.

maybe u should have been manager of borough last year and they wouldnt have been relegated(6)

thanx 4 this..my m8 was tearing me apart online until i started using this tactic.now,, 1 loss in 15.
A few draws 2 start with but given time it has workd a treat!
