Jorge Jesus sacked!

Surprise invaded Benfica's fans in the morning as they knew that Jorge Jesus won't be their club's manager anymore. Jesus arrived in 2009/2010 winning the league and the league cup in that season but in 2010/2011 he couldn't keep that success letting FC Porto winning the title in his own stadium.
Luís Filipe Vieira announced in the website that Jesus won't be Benfica's manager anymore and that they are searching for a new manager.

The bets began and people started to equate about who will be the next Benfica's Manager.

Who is this man?

Nuno Miguel Guerreiro, 34, is a young manager with great future as he is really ambicious. He was the assistant manager of José Mourinho and Marcelo Bielsa in Real Madrid and Athletic respectively.
He wants now a new challenge but not as assistant but as manager and what better challenge then his favorite club.

Nuno Miguel Guerreiro is the new Benfica's manager.

Nuno Miguel Guerreiro, 34, signed a 2 year contract with SL Benfica, earning 7,500€ p/w. In the first press-conference he admitted that he privileges ofensive football rather than defensive. His great goal is the Liga Zon Sagres and of course giving confidence to Benfica's fans bringing some stability being necessary to destroy FC Porto's supremacy in Portugal.
Some fans are a bit afraid of the decision as they don't know anything about this new manager but others really appreciate the decision to bring some new spirit to the club.

SL Benfica Pre-Season

PRE-SEASON UPDATE

The Pre-Season went well with 5 victories and 1 draw. The fans are now confident about the next season and started to trust a bit more in the new manager.

Club Details

The most historical club in Portugal. 2 UEFA Champions League and 32 Leagues are the best trophies in the club history. This season I will try to get the 33rd league and maybe the Portuguese Cup.

Friendlies

In these 6 matches, I was able to see who are the main players and who are the ones that I can dispense.
Not even 1 player was bought so that the squad’s core would be the same.

UEFA Champions League

So, I will play against Ast. Tripolis from Greece and I expect an easy win in both matches. These 2 games will be my first official matches, so I have to be in the maximum strenght at that moment.

The Main Players

I have 3 main players, Nicolas Gaitan, Axel Witsel and Oscar Cardozo.These players have the capacity to solve a match from nowhere and I am very happy that I was able to keep them this season.

A true technician and what a touch he has.
Maybe the best of the 3.

The box-to-box midfielder and further more he can also play as the playmaker.
Very regular player and I hope he can decide some matches too.

The goals will come from this men.
Oscar Cardozo is one of the best strikers in the game and will be my main source of goals.

The first official month in SL Benfica

THE FIRST OFFICIAL MONTH IN SL BENFICA

The first month went really well. In seven matches, six of them were won and I was defeated once in the UEFA Champions League Best Placed Playoff Leg 1.
The team is playing well but we are not that excellent though and Porto is looking unbeatable with great victories (7-0 twice).

Ast. Tripolis 1 - 3 SL Benfica

SL Benfica 4 - 2 Ast. Tripolis
MoM - Enzo Pérez

Both these matches were easy and team answered well to the favouritism. We are happy to go to the Playoff but a bigger challenge will come.

My team will be facing LOSC Lille Métropole in the Playoff.
2 hard matches will come and we hope we can get good results in both of them.

And what a playoff this was! First match lost in our stadium and things were kind of heavy in the locker room but it all went well as we won 4-0 away with the best exhibition in this season.

The Group Stage

Really balanced group apart of Barcelona that will certainly finish first. My goal is to finish in the 2nd place so that I can go to the First KO Round.

Easy first match... Sad about the ratio shots-goals but fortunately we won 2-0 and started well in the League. Hope it continues like that.

MoM - Oscar Cardozo

Hat-trick by Cardozo! The result doesn't show that well how the match was. It wasn't that easy but as I said before, I expect Cardozo to solve some problems from nowhere and he really did it.

MoM - Oscar Cardozo

2 goals by Cardozo and there are 5 already. Great match in general with clear dominance, but sadly, they scored a goal and the fairest result would be without conceded goals.
