What's changed to make it less effective?

Still scoring goals but defensively is no longer as strong. Players keep losing the ball when dribbling to opposition tackles and getting counter-attacked. I think I've fixed it, but still need to test with Chelsea.

Also, we concede a 25+ yard shot practically almost every other game which is very annoying. No idea where this bug has come from lol

Also it would be nice if penalties had an outcome other than being shot down the middle and hit directly at the goalkeeper, whatever changes they've made, I feel the engine is worse than that of the beta atm tbh

What did you change to fix it? Not noticing any issues on my West Ham save yet, but not played a lot since the patch.

Mainly reduced the number of team instructions alongside the freedom and roaming for the wingers as well as turning off dribble more to stop players standing around like idiots, trying to do a 360' turn and then getting tackled despite having 2 simple passes on.

Still conceding random 25+ yard goals every other game which is very frustrating given that as a tactic, this aims for clean sheets lol
Don't think that is something I can specifically solve though unfortunately.

Do you still have "run at defence" on? Been debating to remove it. Came 2nd United on my West Ham save btw.

It's one of the instructions that I removed for the post-patch version.
I'm off to a football match in 10 mins but when I'm back I'll upload that version for you if you like along with what changes I made.

Glad to hear you've done well with West Ham :D

Yeh would be nice if you could upload it so I can have a look :)

Here it is.
If I'm honest, I'm not too pleased with it. It's getting results but I'm not getting the same playstyle I had pre-17.1.2 which is expected given how many instructions changed to get it grinding out results again.

Quick note, if you go through a poor spell e.g. where Chelsea had the two draws or where Blackburn had the four losses, change your training to attacking movement.

Expect poorer results with Blackburn because they're relegation candidates but at the same time, it was within that save that I was tweaking stuff so some odd results are expected.

What I'd suggest for you is to compare the old one with the new one and maybe give it a trial run in a few easy games. If you feel the older one is working better for you, stick with it. I'm still gonna mess around with these from time to time and if you feel you can improve this tactic, you're more than welcome to as well :D

Have you considered switching the anchor man to a more playmaking role? He's not stopping the longshots anyways..

Not really spent enough time fiddling around with this tactic or even playing the game for that matter to even see whether that positively affects things. Give it a go and see whether you still maintain the same defensive stability but simultaneously reap the benefits of a DLP.

Played a few games now, works better with a DLP it seems. No real loss of defensive solidity either. Took off "more direct passing" from the team instructions and put it as a player instruction on the DLP instead. Not losing the ball from hopeful long punts anymore, especially if the DLP has good passing/vision/etc.

I'll try this out & let you know how it goes.

Cheers

Not too sure about the centrebacks tho. They have both "fewer risky passes" and "more direct passing" as part of their role. They keep trying to boot it to the striker, but usually with little success... Thinking of switching their roles to regular centrebacks, and try to make them give it to the DLP so he can distribute it long instead.

Went pretty amazing after changing to DLP and tweaking abit a few games into the season. Won the PL with 89 points, won the EFL cup final 6-1 against Leicester, won 3-1 on aggregate vs Juventus in the CL knockouts, 4-1 aggregate vs PSG in the CL quarters, 6-1 vs Real Madrid aggregate in the CL semis yet somehow managed to lose 2-1 to ******* Spurs in the final. Also won the FA cup final 6-1 against QPR of all teams.

Wow, good job! Upload the tactic for us :D

Here. DLP needs to have good passing, vision etc, all the usual stats. Against weaker teams you can get away with using someone who's not that strong defensively.
