Cant loan longer than 3 months..

Hi there,

Im relatively new to FM2010 but im not a complete noob.

I am managing Southampton and I am currently in season 1 on FM2010 with the team.

I am currently in October 2009. I have a player (neal trotman) on loan from another club, and his contract expires in january, but I would like to extend his loan period so I can have him for longer.

However when I goto offer conitract, it will only let me select a duration of 3 months for the loan.. and all the other loan durations are visible but greyed out.

The 'comments' I get for the contract negotiation are as follows:


* There is a limit of four domestic based long-term loan transfers per season for players under 23 years of age (currently 2). (FYI - trotman is 22).
* There is a limit of 3 months in total where a player can go on a short-term loan to a club in the same nation in a season (currently 0 months).

Now I am having some trouble figuring out what that means, and why I cannot get any other player on loan right now for longer than a 3 month period when it clearly says currently 0 months.

Its not just trotman either, I cannot seem to loan any other players for longer than 3 months.

Maybe you only arrange a loan with a duration of a season or longer than 3 months once the transfer window is open and the season is closed?

Maybe im just being really thick, but any help would be appreciated.

Its because outside the transfer window you can only do 3 month loans but when inside the window you can offer how many months you want him. Hope this helps

You know when your setting up a new game to play. Do you get more players to choose from if you select to include more nations, or does that just allow you to play as them?

What I mean is, as im playing now I only selected english conference and above, so will I have less foreign players to use for transfers etc as I would if I had of selected more nations as playable when setting up the game?

Also

As I sad im quite new to these football management games, but is it possible to take a team say in like coca-cola championship league 2 all the way to the premiership, or is that physically not possible in the game as it probably wouldnt happen in real life for some time.

How long does the game go on for? I would like to build up a career if you like on this game, starting with a lower team, doing well so that I can get appointed as manager for a higher team like someone in the premiership without starting a new game all over again.
