Can't start a new game?

Basically, I'm using football manager 12 via steam, and currently only have 1 game save going.

However, everytime I try to start a new game, it always freezes and I have to close the program down. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

Is a crash dump erro message appearing?

When it freezes, is the screen going black or white?

No crash dump error, just says the program is not responding, and then that it needs to close down.

Are you playing on a netbook or another system with a small processor?

I'm playing on a laptop but the processor is (supposedly) more than enough to run the game.
