Changing current ability

Hi guys

if I increase a players current ability in game will the stats of the player rapidly increase to match this current ability? Or will changing current ability have no effect and therefor ruin the players stats?

Example is: I want to make gareth bale better in general so if I up his current ability and potential ability by 10 will he actually get any better?

I think the stats will grow quicker than normal to fulfill the CA. Not too sure though
