I am currently managing Chelsea.

Although I have a great Home tactic, I need a bit of help turning this into an away tactic. I would get hammered by the bigger teams at their ground if I play this away.

I know im not 'supposed' to make any drastic changes to the formation or the players wont adapt so I need a bit of help with the tweaks I will need to make but sticking with the same.similar formation

My home tactic is an attacking, direct style 4-1-2-2-1 (or 4-3-3). I've listed the players in formation and their roles.

Cech = GK (Goalkeeper-support)

Ivanovic = DR (FB-Auto)
Alex = DC (DC-Defend)
Terry = DC (DC-Defend)
Cole = DL (FB-Auto)

Mikel = DMC (Anchor-Defend)

Essien = MC (Ball winner-Support)
Lampard = MC (Advanced PM-Attack)

Malouda = AMR (Inside FW - Attack)
Anelka = AML (Inside FW - Attack)

Torres = CF (Advanced FW - Attack)

Usual Subs
Turnbull
Bosingwa
Zhirkov
Luiz
Ramires
Kalou
Drogba

Team Instructions
Philosophy - Fluid
Mentality - Attacking
Passing style- More Direct
Creativty - Default
Pressing - Press More
Tackling - Aggressive
Roaming - Default
Crossing - Drill crosses
Roaming - Default

Defensive Line - High (first notch on high)
Tempo - Quick (first notch on quick)
Time wasting - Rarely (3 notches up)

Sorry guys, What I mean is that the above is my home tactics. This is layed out in a 4 (defenders), 1 (DMC), 2 (MC), 2 (Inside forwards out wide), 1 (Striker) therefore a 4-1-2-2-1. I have included the team instuctions too. It is an attacking, direct style of play

I know that when playing away, you dont go all out attack (especially against the bigger clubs) so I was wondering if someone could advise me on an away tactic. Preferably using the 4-1-2-2-1 formation still but with different team instructions/player roles. Or, a decent tactic for the players I have (also listed above)

I would probably start with either Standard or Control and use shouts depending on the situation. Get ball forward and exploit the middle when wanting to attack and retain possession and play more narrow when wanting to cool things down a bit. I would perhaps also use more players on support instead of attack when playing away to really good opponents

How about a 4-1-4-1 with the following?

Cech = GK (Goalkeeper-support)

Ivanovic = DR (FB-Auto)
Alex = DC (DC-Defend)
Terry = DC (DC-Defend)
Cole = DL (FB-Auto)

Lampard (retrained position) = DMC (Deep lying PM - Support)

Zhirkov = ML (Defensive Winger-Support)
Essien = MC (Ball winner-Defend)
Ramires = MC (Ball winner-Defend)
Bosingwa (Retrained position) = MR (Defensive Winger-Support)

Torres = CF (Advanced FW - Attack)

Usual Subs
Turnbull
Ferreira
Bertrand
Luiz
Mikel
Malouda
Drogba

Team Instructions
Philosophy - Rigid
Mentality - Counter
Passing style- More Direct
Creativty - More Diciplined
Pressing - Press More
Tackling - Aggressive
Roaming - Stick to position
Crossing - Default

Defensive Line - Deep (last notch on deep)
Tempo - Quick (first notch on quick)
Time wasting - Sometimes (first notch on sometimes)

Also, if anyone has an alternative tactic, home and/or away (If I am getting it wrong), ideas are welcome :-)
You can all see the players I have got above

Cheers guys
