Chester Will Not Fall! - First Season Over!

Good work getting into positive points, hopefulyl you can really push on now, the playoffs are never out of reach, well maybe they are but i hope you do well mate

If I was to reach Playoffs, winning or losing, I think I would be deemed a ****** god!

My priority above all is getting this season out of the way and being in the BSP at the end of it, and then taking the club back into League 2 in my second season of management.

Update coming soon, keep checking back, might have a few surprises for you all ;]

Its January 1st and the transfer window is open.

Bad news is Adam Kay has finished his loan deal and gone back to his club. Chadwick is injured for 4-5 weeks (again).

I have convinced the board to get a new Parent Club. We are now affiltrated with Man United, and I'm hoping that we will get 2 fantastic loan deals during the transfer market to replace the ending of 2.

The latest in results are the following:

Chester v Rushden - Away - 1-0 Win - We bounce back from our 4-0 disgraceful performance against AFC Wimbledon and take a great, well earned 3 points away from home against Rushden.

Chester v York - Away - 0-0 - Solid performance and I am happy to get away with a point.

Chester v Tamworth - Away - 1-0 Win - Another solid performance away from home see's our relegation survival getting more and more easy.

Chester v Attrincham - Home - 2-1 - Another win at home, and another solid and well needed 3 points gets us closer out of the relegation. Going 1-0 down at half time, my team talk worked wonders, and Blundell replaced Chadwick to get an Assist and a Goal under his belt to get us all 3 points.

Chester v Stevenage - Away - 1-1 - More points for the team, but we should have won the game. I felt robbed as Stevenage was given a penalty on the 76th minute to equalize.

Chester v Leyton Orient - Away - FA Cup 2nd rnd - 5-0 Loss - I expected better of the team, but I'm turning my eyes on bigger and better prizes, and that's playing in the BSP next season.

Chester v Cambridge - Away - 1-1 - Cambridge are playing extremely well, lying 1st at the time of the game. I'm extremely proud of the team as we take a point back to Chester.

Chester v Luton - Home - 1-1 - Another game we was expected to lose, and once again we prove everyone wrong and take yet another point home from a very tough opponent.

Chester v Eastbourne United - Home - 3-1 Win - Great result! Great football, and I couldn't have asked more from the players! We deserved every point as we dominated the game.

Chester v York - Home - FA Trophy 1st rnd - 3-1 Win - Second 3-1 win in 2 games at home shows just how strong we are playing on home turf. We sail through the next round in a game we expected more trouble in!

Chester v Rushden - Away - 1-1 - Another great point away from home. We're taking a point in every game and going on a massive unbeaten run.

Chester v Kidderminster - Away - 4-4 - What an epic battle. We was 3-1 down at half time, I told the team I wanted to see more from them, show me why we deserve to stay up. And they delivered, we went level, and then scored another putting us 4-3 in the lead! With 87 minutes remaining Kidderminster scored on an amazing counter attack to make it square even. Picture below.

Chester v Barrow - Home - 3-1 Win - More points puts us 21st and catching up. If we carry on like this, I have no doubt that we'll stay up.

Chester v Kidderminster - Home - 2-2 Draw - I was expecting a great game and it was! 2-2 draw see's the two teams battling out once again - 12 goals in the 2 games against Kidderminster, great football.

We are now officially half way through the season, and the league table looks like this.

This is the game vs Kidderminster, what a thriller!

With the transfer market once again opened, I am looking to bring in 2 loan deals.

Quick update, we're playing ****.

That is all =]

---------- Post added at 03:22 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:54 AM ----------

Update on how we're doing since January 1st;

Chester v Leek - Home - FA Trophy 2nd Round - 3-1 Win - I'm not fussed with any silverwear if I'm honest, getting further in the FA Trophy is purely for the money. I want to focus on surviving, needless to say I'm glad we won.

Chester v Crawley - Away - 5-0 Loss - And this is why I don't want to be in the FA trophy! Hardly any first team on, and any that were are exhausted. I'm just hoping this doesn't put the lads in a bad run.

Chester v Salisbury - Home - 0-0 - I wanted to win this, and we should have done, Salisbury have been poor this season and I'm disappointed we didn't win, but happy we didn't lose.

Chester v Mansfield - Away - 3-2 Loss - Another game where we should have done better, we really needed the point. It doesn't help that the next game is against Mansfield again in the FA trophy. Atleast its at home!

Chester v Mansfield - Home - FA Trophy 3rd Round - 2-1 Win - I'm happy we won, and got one over on Mansfield, but would much preferred we lost 3-2 in the FA Trophy and won 2-1 in the league for the points.

Chester v Ebbsfleet - Home - 0-0 - Boring game, both teams cancelled each other out.

Chester v Forest Green - Away - 2-0 Loss - I can't believe we lost against Forest Green. This loss has made survival a lot harder, and we're now 3 points from 20th. We really need to step up our game if we want to survive.

Chester v Wrexam - Home - 6-0 Loss - I have nothing to say about this.

Chester v Grays - Home - 2-0 Win - Thank god the previous game didn't put the lads confidence down. Thanks to this win we're now level with points with 22nd, 21st and 20th. On goal difference we're placed 20th and surviving, on the skin of our teeth.

The loss of Adam Kay in mid field has hit hard, and I decided to change tactics to 4-3-1-2 with 2 box-to-box midfielders, and an AMC. It seems to worked well and going to try it out for a few more games. We need to get more goals instead of having constant 0-0, 1-1 draws. 1 point just isn't good enough anymore.

10 games remaining in the league, and a possible 30 points up for grabs. I think 15-18 should be enough to keep us up.

I think I'll finish the season tonight, so keep coming back for more updates. It could be very exciting at the end of the season.

Just discovered this thread, great read so far! Got mates from Chester, and I'll be following your final 10 games with keen interest :D

Update ladies and gents as we near the end of the first season:

Chester v Wrexham - Away - FA Trophy 4th Round - 2-1 Loss - Again we lose against Wrexham, we just can't seem to beat them! I am glad we can however focus on other areas.

Chester v Histon - Away - 3-0 Loss - Poor effort, both my strikers are doing terrible, as is my back up strikers. None of them can hit the target and it's going horribly wrong.

Chester v Oxford - Home - 1-0 Loss - We played extremely well, and we was heading to a 0-0 draw which would have been great, however Oxford hit us on a counter attack, and hit us hard, as they get a sickening goal on the 90+1 minute to take all 3 points.

Chester v Kettering - Away - 2-1 Win - Solid performance as we get 2 goals before half time, finally Omajaar gets his name on the score sheet, but Chadwick has gone 15 hours without a goal! Extremely happy to get all 3 points.

Chester v Hayes and Yeading - Home - 4-1 Win - Chadwick stated before the game he'd find the net soon, and he did. 3 times infact, as he plays amazing in our 4-1 destruction on Hayes and Yeading, who are also fighting to stay up. I'm hoping this will bring new-found confidence in Chadwick and he can start getting goals in every game.

Chester v Ebbsfleet - Away - 0-0 - I'd have loved to get all 3 points, but to walk away with 1 point against Ebbsfleet, who are playing extremely well at home, is good enough for me.

Chester v York - Home - 1-0 Win - The lads played solid today as we start finding our point winning ways once again. This is a vital win as we head into the final 4 games of the season.

With 4 games remaining, its extremely tight at the bottom of the table.

Last 4 fixtures:

Chester v Barrow - Away
Chester v Kettering - Home
Chester v AFC WIMBLEDON - Away - This could be the decider!
Chester v Crawley - Away

Extremely tense and exciting as we make our way to Barrow's ground!

Keep checking here to see what happens!

this is getting very exciting. i seriously hope you'll do well mate ;)

2 games remaining, and it's looking extremely tense now.

Chester v Barrow - Away - 4-0 Loss - I had to rest some of my first team for the match against Kettering, I'm not surprised we lost, as Barrow are playing very well and above expectations, they're doing well at home, and our away form lately has been abismal.

Chester v Kettering - Home - 2-1 Loss - SO UNLUCKY. We was 1-1 at half time and completely dominated the second half. With 15 minutes remaining I set the formation to 5-4-1, I wanted to keep it as a draw, as Hayes and Yeading and AFC Wimbledon was also losing. We set to Contain and gave away a needless freekick on the edge of the area. The freekick hit the crossbar and they got the header and put it in the back of the net on the 84th minute.

League table:

AFC Wimbledon away next, and we HAVE to win, no draw about it. It needs to be a win.

---------- Post added at 06:07 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:42 AM ----------

It is all down to the final game, ladies and gents.

Chester v AFC Wimbledon - Away - 3-2 Win - the team did exactly what was needed! Wimbledon scared me a little as they scored on the 81st minute to make it 3-2, but we held up to get a needed win.

That win put us 20th with 40 Points, however amazingly Hayes and Yeading managed to draw with Cambridge putting them on 38 points. Wimbledon are on 37 points and we are leading them on Goal Difference;

Chester v Crawley - Home - Crawley are currently 12th
Hayes and Heading v Wrexham - Home - Wrexham are currently 6th and are unable to get a Play Off spot, which means Hayes and Yeading will more likely be more up for it.

Possibilities of Staying Up:

Chester losing and Hayes and Yeading losing
Chester winning
Chester losing and Hayes and Yeading drawing
Chester drawing and Hayes and Yeading drawing
Chester drawing and Hayes and Yeading winning (goal difference keeps Chester 20th)

Final game. Here we go.

---------- Post added at 06:23 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:07 AM ----------

THE SEASON IS OVER!

And the results are in...

WE STAYED UP! By 1 point!

Chester v Crawley - Home - 1-0 Loss - A good effort by the lads, I really wanted a draw/win but I was keeping a close eye on the Hayes and Yeading game - they drew which puts them at 39 points!

I've done the challenge! If we wouldn't of had the 25 point deduction we would have finished 12th - reasonable considering the issue of getting players in with the financial problems.

However, when one challenge finishes, another begins. Next season I will look to get Chester City back in the Football League! I'll aim to get us in a Play Off spot and win the Play Offs! So don't think this story is over, its only just begun!

Thanks everyone for the support and the following! And as I said, keep following!

Well Done. A great achievement but the challenge is gone now really.

Yeh thats the problem, not really to sure if I feel the same 'urge' and 'need' to get Chester to the Premier League as I could just do that with my Oxford save.

This has given me a big confidence boost in my managerial skills though, I might give Chester another season or go to the lower leagues. What do you think, Kris?

Your call really. You can say you went Chester and kept them up but it's like like a normal Story game now isn't it. Just depends how far you want to take Chester.

well done fella, load the level 10 leagues and start as market drayton town in the unibond div 1 south thats my home town and i have started with them

Ive started this as its my home town club, had a good start to the season also found it difficult to get players in. Just arrived at 1st jan and still 24 place but only 8 points from relegation!!! So looking to get a few players in to help me push to safety!

cant seem to work out how to post screenies though

Keep going with Chester. It will still be a good challenge.

i fancied a challenge aswell and decided to go for chester.
I cant seem to do any good atm ..
any tips mate?

Get Ben Wright on loan if you can from Peterborough if I can renember right, get Gyan and Modzika and Whitley on a free, use my West Ham tactics (4-3-1-2 Attacking/Defensive) as you have the players for it, and make you are at least 10~ points from safety by Christmas.

Thanks for that mate, really appreciate it.
gonna keep track on this aswell.

Good luck :)

That Gyan player is that Christian Gyan and also Modzika isnt on my game.
Is that the correct spelling??

Cheers

I tried- and failed :@ Got sent packing to the Blue Sqaure North and ditched Chester for Crewe!

I know how hard the challenge is, and you have done incredibly well. I tried it and went sent crashing down finishing 2nd bottom and than being promoted straight back. You should have kept going on with it necause unfortunately you won't be able to be Chester next season (for obvious reasons)
