I've been trying to emulate Jorge Sampaolis 3-43 (or 3-2-2-3, 3-1-2-1-3, 3-4-1-2 or whatever you want to call it) ever since his La U days. What I fell for was the beuty of the game his teams produced, combined with just that little bit of cynicism that would have made Marcelo Bielsa the best coach in the world had he possessed it. Since FM 11 (or maybe 12) Ive been playing almost exclusively with different variants of the 343,narrow, wide, short direct, slow and high tempo trying to make Sampaolis style of football show it's magic in the FM ME. Not until now have i succeded in using the settings which I consder to be most true to the way La U used to play, and Chile now plays, and make it work in the ME. I generally create about 20 shots, average over 60 % possession and 85 % pass completions, scoring 3 to 4 goals a game.

The way my Team lines up

As you can see The team I've chosen to play with is current swedish champions MFF (which as it happens has a player in Chiles current world cup team) and my game is already well into 2016, so the tactic was developed during a longplay game by me.

The way my team lines up i in theory a 3-2-2-3 (or as FM likes to put it a 5-2-3), in reality though it looks more like a 343 or 343 diamond.

Ive chosen to play with a Sweeper Keeper on Attack duty, you would want to play a keeper who is good with his feet her, because the defenders will often use him wheen trying to play out of the defence.

For the back three I use two wide ballplaying defenders and one regular defender in the center, they are all on defend duty but the center defender usually drops deeper making being the spare man in the back.

The Wingbacks are two Complete wingbacks which keeps the width of the team and have been told to keep their positions (although they tend to forget about that fact). You'll get quite a few assists from these two, usually on drilled crosses on the near post. They also tend to shoot a loot of shots at goal, even though they've been told to shoot rarely, most likely because opposing teams tend to play narrow against me leaving them alone on the far corner of the penalty box.

The midfield is the heart of this tactic, both regularly make over 110 passes a game. The rcm plays as a Deeplying play maker and the left one as a Attacking Play Maker ( you might want to have him as a CMA instead but i've found that you lose some possesion if you do that. The DLP is basically just a build up player, he doesn't make too many assist and usually sits behind the defence and midfield, although he sometimes moves forward to create triangles with the Right striker, defender and wingback.
The APL is naturally the more offensive one of the pair, and he roams around the pitch as he likes, often making forward runs to the flanks overloading and ovarlapping with the wingbacks. generally not the assist king of the team (averages abou 0.5 assists per game) but often plays the last ball to the player who makes the assist (what we in swedish calls a hockey-assist.

The Strikers consist of two Attacking forward to the left and right who are meant to be the two goalscorers ( in my game the right one scores a whole lot more then the left one but that might just be me having a better player on the right, cause they play with the exact same settings) supported by a false 9 i the "Valdivia-role". The outside strriker often moves to the flanks making crosses, or run from deep straight towards goal. The false 9 would be the actual play maker of the team (although he also mostly makes "hockey-assists) being the focal point of the attack and making through balls for the forward or wingbacks, all of them score quite regularly but as I said before, the right striker is currently the goalking of the team.

As you can see I've been using a quite unorthodox training regime with high fitness training and tactics only for match training, I'm guessing you would be better off with attacking and attacking movement, but i wanted my young player to be stronger physically hence the high fitness training. I dont use any OI's either, never seems to work for me, but they may for you.

As you propably guessed this is still a work in progress, i would like to have higher possesion and score more goals, but as a start i feel it's a good tactic. Any feedback and/or improvements would of course be welcome and for anyone who would like to try this tactic feel free to do so.

Switch my training regime to Attacking and attacking movement, and also get stuck in was replaced by the stay on feet shout.

Played three games since, Against AS Monaco 3-3, Gais 2-1 and AIK 4-0. The Aik game was the one where I felt that the tactic performed closest o how I want it to perform.

In the video you can see how the players storm forward en masse when the oppurtunity is there.

As you can see I get quite a high number of CCC's for the amount of shots taken, but they do tend to miss alot of them for some reason. The possession is also a weird thing, this game I had 80% possession in minute 30 then it gradually got lower for the rest of the game, this happens alot. Don't know if it's because the players get tired or some other reason?

I see that you made a lot of transfers in Malm?, only Thern that i recognize.

Yeah, this is halfway into the 4th season though (started february 2013), Halvadzic is the only other player i could find thats been there sinc the start. It's hard to keep your players in the swedish league, as soon as they've had a good season the bids from other clubs come.

How is this tactic coming along? Any new improvements?
I am thinking about trying this tactic, but have to figure out which team to try it with.
Being Norwegian I have been thinking about doing a long term Norwegian game, but the quality of players are not the best at the moment.
Let me know if you are still using this tactic.
