Hey, What do you think the best defensive tactic is on FM Base?

in Fm12 depending on who you are, most of the time you have to adopt two different approaches, well I do anyway!

what formation do you require?

I'd go with 4-5-1. Crowding midfield seems to be the most effective so pick a variation that would do that.

A formation for a mid table team, i haven't chosen a team yet but am aiming to keep clean sheets when i do, because i seem good enough at scoring goals when i create my formations but not clean sheet solid at defending.

I use a 3-4-3, with 3 CB and counter attack

I've tried to mimic what the Greek national team did in Euro 2004; generally a 3-4-3 against teams with two forwards, and a 4-3-3 against teams with one or three forwards, always man-marking, focused more on defending/counter-attacking. I gave up <20 goals with a mid-table Romanian side.
