CM for Middlesbrough?

I'd like an experienced CM to be the driving force in my midfield.
I have about £3M to spend and I've already tried to sign Beckham and Scholes, although both obviously snubbed me. Anyone have any ideas!?

pratley from swansea is a good sign, i managed to get alan patrick from real madrid on loan so, he may still be at santos though.
