Arsenal have signed Carl Jenkinson, a 19 YO RB from Charlton who will go straight into the First Team. Personal terms agreed, compensation still to be sorted, I believe.

Re: De Gea - Isn't he the same age as Wojciech Szczesny (who cost nothing)? Does that mean I can use the "experienced GK" argument against Utd next season when VDS retires? Assuming he goes into the First XI ahead of Kuszcack & Lindegaard considering he was 1st choice at Atletico.

So - we've got a 20 YO 'keeper who cost us nothing, and Utd will (try to) sign a 20 YO 'keeper for £23m? Excellent business.

Being a solid first choice number one all season after ousting a great GK in Sergio Asenjo is a bit different to being the last roll of the dice after Fabianski, Almunia and even Mannone were either injured or deemed too calamitous/risky/all round clowns.

Also anyone who's watched La Liga this season can see that De Gea is much more talented than Szczesny.

Joss it is business like this is why Utd win trophies well and Arsenal go a long time without trophie, SO nice try, but your never go to get anywhere with an attempt like that.

Like Jake said, De Gea is more talented than Szczesny, played 2 full seasons and also won the Europa cup and he was the #1 choice keeper for the winning team.

Still Szczesny should prove for an entire season.

As much as I love Wenger (and hate him for his 'I didn't see it [the foul my player commited].'), for his transfer dealings, De Gea is a lot better than Szczesny, although Szczesny may be better in the future. It's like comparing Casillas with Scott Carson to be honest.

Agreed, the other Arsenal goalkeepers were all incompetent/injured so that is why Szczesny played. I think Szczesny (God it takes a while to remember and type ;)) is better than the other Arsenal goalkeepers, which is still quite an achievement, not as much as getting the No.1 jersey from Sergio Asenjo though.

United invest a lot of money and are rewarded, but you do have debt. Arsenal on the other hand, don't invest much but don't do that well. I think Wenger would be a great finance manager/youth player scout, Arsenal should offer him the two jobs combined and sign Mourinho as manager :P.

Fulham Football Club is delighted to confirm the signing of Dan Burn on a three year deal for an undisclosed fee.

The highly-rated 18-year-old defender signs from Darlington and will join Mark Hughes’ squad in the summer of 2011.

Burn progressed through Darlington’s Academy and has courted interest from many other clubs. He has made 10 appearances for the Quakers this season which has seen the side reach the FA Trophy Final.

Born in Northumberland, 6’ 6” Burn has great aerial presence and made his Football League debut for Darlington in 2009. Since then, his impressive performances have caught the eye of many top clubs.

Sorry - have to go back to this. Not saying Szczesny is better, but is De Gea worth £20m more than him?

He's also not really the last roll of the dice. He's in the team because he's good enough - he got his CHANCE because Fabianski and Almunia were injured but since then, he's more than proved himself and had one bad game. Congrats to De Gea for ousting Asenjo - it's very impressive and he's obviously a class GK.

Because you spend excessive amounts of money on players and we spend nothing on players who are just as good? That makes sense

Not once said Szczesny is better than De Gea - just saying that they're the same age and I believe Szczesny is not just a quality GK now, but will be for a long time and we paid nothing for him. Whether De Gea is a little more talented than Szczesny is sort of besides the point unless there's a vast gap between the two which I don't think there is.

Just saying that paying £23m for a good GK and Man Utd fans being over the moon about it doesn't make much sense when a) Arsenal are constantly criticised for not buying experienced GKs and b) Your rivals have a GK the same age at a similar level and paid nothing for him.

How can you say Szczesny is at similar level than de Gea?Szczesny might be good, but de Gea has proven much more and, at the moment, de Gea IS a better goalkeeper.

De Gea's not proven in England, Scexkdjejhwewjenenneenogekemxny's more so tried.

He proven in La liga, which in my opinion is at same" difficulty " level than EPL, for a Goalkeeper. He also did well on European competitions, he has 5 clean sheets in 15 appearances.

Similar level doesn't mean one isn't better than the other - just means that there's not a HUGE gap between them. They're on a similar level for me, but De Gea appears to be slightly better.

They're also similar PLAYERS - from what I've seen, both have similar strengths (reactions, height/reach, one-on-ones)

La Liga isn't the same quality as the EPL. It's also a completely difficult test and far less physical - you're more likely to be presented in a one-on-one in LL (not necessarily when you're playing with Arsenal in ENG though with our high line) but in England, you're more likely to be tested from set-pieces etc. Let's not get into which is better, though.

Judging by what Darlington fans are saying Burn sounds like a perfect replacement for Hangeland. Nice to see that Hughes is investing in young players, it's what we desperately need and it shows a little bit of commitment from him too.

Excuse me, But clearly they are just as good players when we win trophies and you dont... You pay money for quality, and clearly that shows..... Really joss really joss, They is rather silly of you.

All because they havent won a trophy recently does not mean that they are not just as good ;)

The same De Gea that was so impressive he was selected in Spain's 2010 WC provisional squad, and only dropped out due to an injury. The fact that he took the no1 jersey from Gregory Coupet and Sergio Asenjo, two top class keepers. He has played 50 games in just under 2 years. Proven enough for me.
