1 goal and 3 assists from 18 appearances this season wouldn't have me creaming my pants to sign him. I suspect it's been kept quiet because no-one else wanted him. Bet Bremen bit Chelsea's hand off.

This exactly, like I said in my previous post. Bremen are in need of cash and with Marin not delivering this was a no-nonsense decision.

lol i guess you were shocked too when you heard about it XD

Most definitely mate i was shocked, not a peep from any media source or anything.

The lad has been injured a lot this season (hence only 18 games) so that may have effected his form. I thought he needed a move a year ago personally but there is no doubt there is a good player there.

He has been injured this season. Otherwise he has great potential and his signing could very well be a huge bargain if it works out. I am pretty sure quite a few clubs would want a player who at 23 is already a settled German International

I heard it'll be €8M + Lukaku on loan for the year. Very surprised when I turned on SSN and saw that flashing across the ticker though, very out of the blue.

Lukaku loan deal has not been confirmed yet. Personally speaking I'd prefer if we paid Bremem cash and allowed Lukaku to have a loan at somewhere like Everton

This is Lukas Podolski's official FB page, so we can count it as an official transfer. Just use Google Translate if you don't understand anything. He says that he is sad to leave his old club and fans behind, but is looking forward to testing himself on a higher level, at a great club.

Just what we needed, another striker to play with RVP.

Looks like a good signing for you lot. He even has a better chance conversion than Van Persie. But as always with Podolski his work rate should be questioned.

He's in sensational scoring form this season. I doubt another 'Bayern Munich-like' disaster might happen to him now.

The Bayern incident came from the fact that he was used to be the star of the team, not having any other experience at a bigger club. Now he is in his prime and has the Bayern experience in his mind. I think he will be more mature, not expecting the team to play for him.

I thought it was the one from Marseille at first, did not realise he had a brother.

Newcastle trying to be Arsenal? Signing French players? Cabaye, Ben Arfa, Marveux now this guy.

No, we are simply buying players from the best market at the time. Just because we 'buy French' doesn't mean we are copying Arsenal. In fact, we have bought from France since before Arsenal(Ginola, Robert, Bernard...)

Very similar to his brother too. Creative midfielder. Sits either behind the strikers, or as a left winger or deeper CM. Actually looks like he could be a quality player.

Chris Kirkland has signed a 2 year deal with Sheffield Wednesday.
