Contract question-Dont want to lose players in squad...read if u dont mind :)

My query is that its start of December and i have lots of players on contract till June time [6months'ish time away]. Can i wait till almost June time to offer a new contract OR...maybe im wrong here. If its less than 6months left on a players contract. Some other club can tie them up so that when its June they go to another team. IF this is the case and someone offers them a contract. Can i still offer them one before their contracts up and keep them sitll for say another year or however long i want the new contract to go on for. Thank you :))

This game immense, just couple things i need to get a handle of still ^^.

Im in my 1st season of this game. Of any football manager game for that matter. I dabbled in 1-2 other manager games in past but think this is my 1st FM game. Isnt it NUTS xD
 
If you really want to keep them, you should try and offer them a contract as soon as possible. If you dont do this, other teams may come in from foreign leagues and be able to sign your players on a free.
 
Once a player has signed for another team, there's nothing you can do about it.
 
If a club offers you player a contract and they accept you can't offer them another contract.
Snap up now or you'll regret it ;)
