In all honesty I don't know why the club appointed me as manager at all, I have no experience in the world of managing and in my playing days enjoyed my one club career at Southampton, playing alongside Matt Le Tissier, who's surprised me by going into punditry instead of management.

Anyway, I'm delighted to be the manager of this club, it's what I've always wanted to do since I finished playing in 2002. Is this really happening to me?! I thought to myself this morning as I dragged myself out of bed, before I rubbed my eyes in disbelief almost at the situation. I have to thank Ray Trew and the Notts County board for giving me this amazing chance at this club of course, and no matter where I go in my career I will always hold them in the highest regard for what they've done for me.

My idea of course, is to take County to the big time, the Barclays Premier League, is where I want to be. However, as a Nottingham born boy I admit to wanting to knock Nottingham Forest off their "Perch" so to speak and restore pride to the magpies! Admittedly I never supported either of the Nottingham teams as a lad as I headed down south when I was just 5, but, I do love an underdog story!
